It is quite simple that Poseidon's appreciation will be directed at the sponsor of the temple. Out of the ordinary, in this situation the sponsor is building the temple on Midas' territory. Even if Perseus wastes a small fortune on this project, I doubt Midas' situation will change. Poseidon's influence will increase, but he will be grateful to the hero paying for it - Perseus - and not the one controlling the land upon which it is built.
The gods are not stupid. I doubt they will be appeased until Midas can part with a small part of his fortune to appease them. Perseus' money cannot buy Midas' redemption.
It matters not to Bellerophon what Midas and Pelops say to these assertions - mainly they are intended for Perseus. While his intentions are honorable, Midas is not the only one who does not like to see wealth spent in futile measures.
OOC: Of course maybe Poseidon is stupider than Bellerophon thinks, and thus Bellerophon would be completely wrong. Only time will tell, eh?
