Indeed, a good Olympic rivalry could be nice. Afterall, what would the battle of Troy have been if the Gods had not spiced things up?

Then again, it'll probably mean Hades and Poseidon both decide to get in a quarrel with Hephaestos, but it could make for nice AAR material to go down in flames to protect the honour of Hephaestos

Poseidon certainly has cause for a quarrel with Hephaestos, because Hephaestos has stolen Pelops to be his champion, despite the special relationship between Poseidon and Pelops.
It is inconceivable that Poseidon should have chosen Bellepheron over Pelops, unless Pelops had already been claimed. A Spartan who so favoured his son over his paidika would be severely punished by the magistrates for his immorality.

I can't say anything on the quality, haven't yet tasted the joys of buying Phrygian goods.

Bellerophon demands Midas recant, as well as rededicate the temple in the Canaries to its rightful god, the Lord of the Seas, Poseidon himself.

You misunderstand the gold is for sponsoring the temple dedications, the island is free.
And, as Sparta has less in the way of temples than other lands, it is cheap to sponsor temples there.

A more special relationship. I am amazed :wacko: , appalled , intrigued. Let us hear the juicy details.

The tale of how Pelops was served up as stew, reanimated by the having his limbs reboiled in a cauldron blessed by Zeus, and how he emerged from the cauldron clothed in such radiant beauty that Poseidon fell in love with him on the spot and carried him off to Olympus in a chariot drawn by golden horses, was well know in antiquity and recorded by Pindar, Ovid and others. But do tell what makes Pelops and Hephaestus even more special.

Pelops will not say more on such rumours.

However, if you had done your research, you would know it was Hephaestos who lifted the curse of Myrtilus from Pelops, and he is one of the two Gods named as remakers of the shoulder of Pelops (the other being, IIRC, Demeter)

edit: And Pelops will not comment on the actions of Bellerophon and Midas, so long as they do no more than they have done to date. But he would hate it if another war was fought over a temple in Harpyland, especially as Aphrodite is one of the goddesses worshipped in the Peloponnesus.

Probably Perseus wanted make sure no more Phrygians would be killed. He is a good man.

A good and honorable man, that Perseus...but I doubt his plan will work. The gods will not likely forgive Midas just because Perseus had a temple built on Phrygian territory.

A noble, but ineffective idea. A shame it will likely fail.

I simply cannot see it succeeding. It certainly will not make up for the fact that there are statues of Aphrodite in a temple of Poseidon!

Those are all rather nice things. I fail to see how Perseus building a temple on Midas' territory will make any of those happen. Midas is not really repenting - he is simply erecting a temple and saying 'Leave me alone!'. Bellerophon feels that it will not help if Perseus pays for that temple. Midas must pay it himself.

Bellerophon should stay out of Phrygian internal affairs. It's up to Poseidon to decide if he appreciates the temple or not.

In other words, Pelops believes Poseidon has no reason not to accept his new follower. A temple is a temple, whether it's in the Canaries or elsewhere.

Its up to gods decide what matters more where money comes to temple or the reason why temple is build and what it represents.
