Ok, here is a load of replies from questions in the stream:
[2016-02-03 12:11:01] <chrisashesonline> I will not be able to see the live broadcast today

but i have a question i hope will be answered: If I as a Scandinavian nation, conquer all or some of the other scandinavian nations. Can I then rename it to something else? exampel: scandinavian empire. Thanks @paradoxInteractive
- None of the HOI games have union tags like in Victoria, they are cool tho so would love to add it one day.
do a decision to return the empire? Sort of like the annexation of Austria in hearts of iron 3
[2016-02-03 14:38:37] <ViktoriousAUT> What exactly does capitulation do @ParadoxInteractive
- Its the point a nation's government collapses and is forced into exile. Any local troops will lay down their arms and the rest of the area will surrender. If you are not in a faction at this point the game triggers a peace conference where the victors can decide what to do with you. If you are in a faction the attacker needs to beat the other major members to force a peace conference, meanwhile (if you have any) you can continue the fight in exile from colonies.
[2016-02-03 14:39:02] <DuckRavioli> @paradoxinteractive What's with Vichy France? Can it be created? Can custom "client states" be created?
- We dont have custom dynamic client states (again would be cool in future development), you can however create Vichy France of course.
[2016-02-03 14:39:16] <tikiBLOODWORK> @paradoxinteractive Question: Are you able to use for example experiencepoints from landbattles to improve your plains? If so its a step much towards casual in my opinion.
- I assume you mean airplanes. There is different experience points for each type.
[2016-02-03 14:39:19] <Vladeta1995> @Paradoxinteractive Can you recover manpower ?
- Manpower is mostly gained through enacting harsher conscription laws. So you get it in big chunks and its a resource that runs out. However you also get some every month from people coming of age and such. For occupied areas it depends on occupation laws how much you get, but its only a small part.
[2016-02-03 14:39:50] <si1verc1aw> @Paradoxinteractive now that "franco-britian union fired" does britian get all the tech teams and 'efficiency' for production?
- No, just control over the area and troops, production and such are lost
[2016-02-03 14:40:04] <GeneralMacek> @paradoxinteractive Can USSR turn into Tsarist Russia? And how does the AI work here? It is "semi-manual" or can I turn everything to AI?[/quote]
- HOI4 doesnt have togglable AI parts. Compared HOI3 we wanted a game where all parts are playable rather than having to give up control.
- Tsarist Russia I guess would be soviet ruled by neutral ideology, you'd need an event for that as antions can not move from communism to neutral ideology through normal play.
[2016-02-03 14:40:23] <gerard_bob> @paradoxinteractive can planes transport heavy equipment like tanks of the channel of england?
- No, need ships to transport things that cant be dropped by parachute
[2016-02-03 14:41:45] <Ilikecookies9> @Paradoxinteractive quite difficult to recognice anything are there like a lot of different map modes like in eu4 hoi3? I mean in eu4 nobody uses the realistic one
- There are a number of different mapmodes which were showcased during the stream.
[2016-02-03 14:42:26] <Pguyton> @Paradoxinteractive could you make peace with soviets once you've done enough damage?
- Yes, you could peace out if the war had gone on long enough
[2016-02-03 14:42:41] <KM_Yamato> @Paradoxinteractive, Can you upgrade infantry like vehicles ? Or is there other way of doing it ?
- If you research and produce better infantry weapons they get sent into the field as upgrades, just like vehiles. Or do you mean by spending experience? Thats only doable for vehicles.
[2016-02-03 14:42:42] <04Dowie> @paradoxInteractive does Strategic bombing effect national unity?
- No, it only attacks enemy production and infrasstructure. Nukes hit national unity however.
[2016-02-03 14:43:23] <PigletCNC> @Paradoxinteractive What do you think is the easiest country to learn this game with? What is this game's 'ireland' region?
- I think Italy is the best since it puts you in a position to test easy combat first, do buildup but not have to do the heavy pulling that germany does. Italy is also the country you play in our tutorial as well.
[2016-02-03 14:43:45] <ystudios10> @Paradoxinteractive Can Daniel Research The Tiger 1
- Yeah if he wants to. I suspect it wouldnt be smart though. Johan has some powerful anti-tank divsions and Tigers are expensive. The way he plays I suspect its much better bang for buck to go for cheaper mass production.
[2016-02-03 14:43:55] <gerard_bob> @paradoxinteractive can you change your capitol to a more stratigic position
- No, capitals are locked until taken. You dont have the problem like in HOI3 where stuff will instnatly collapse supply wise when capital moves though.
[2016-02-03 14:44:05] <Parlack9> @Paradoxinteractive Will Germany be able to form puppets in occupied territory, something like Reichskommissariats?
- Nope, but its something that would be cool to have one day.
[2016-02-03 14:44:06] <Phantomiux> @Paradoxinteractive Is there any notable minor nation ( like Czechoslovakia or Finland ), who have ( or will have ) own special National Focuses?
- For release we have focus trees for the main majors only. The generic focus tree is set up to fit different kinds of nations though. I suspect releasing more focus trees and country flavor is something we want to do though, there is a lot of cool stuff possible there
[2016-02-03 14:44:09] <Baltorin1> @Paradoxinteractive, how long would a multiplayerround in HOI4 be, if every big country was playercontrolled? Shorter than in HOI3?
- Hard to say, some players played HOI3 for month long campaigns, while I'v (with lots of AI autoamtion) beaten most of the world in an afternoon on speed 5 in HOI3. I guess the times we have played seriosuly its something like 2 whole days maybe? Its hard to answer while a game is in development.
[2016-02-03 14:44:35] <raindirve> @paradoxinteractive Looks like supply through allied territories is working fine, anything to comment on that?
- thats a weight off my shoulders then :3
[2016-02-03 14:45:12] <Voigt20> Does Germany have to take Cities east of the Ural, when SU is at 100% National Unity? @Paradoxinteractive
- yes, in fact I would have loved to edit their savegame. I fixed a bunch of stuff yesterday that stops natiosn from hitting 100% in this way. 100% unity nations are pretty boring to fight.
[2016-02-03 14:46:57] <Daddl_> @ParadoxInteractive Is there a bit randomness behind the "harshness" of the winter or is it just the same every year, so like you know exactly when the snow will be gone?
- its random, but you can script it for bookmarks if you dont want that and make special ones. We prefer it random so that you cant cheat with hindsight.
[2016-02-03 14:48:15] <Lazygenius09> @Paradoxinteractive how does an naval invasion work no more transports?
- we'll talk details on this in a future diary on invasions
[2016-02-03 14:48:17] <flyingd123321> @Paradoxinteractive Are we able to build a new faction, and give it a custom name?
- Yes!
[2016-02-03 14:49:15] <munasef1> @Paradoxinteractive are there differences between day and night ? like bonus for attack at night ?
- penalty for attack at night rather

you can research doctrines to overcome this though (its part of the infiltration branch of grand battleplan). night also have a big impact on the air war, ships chance of finding stuff and such.
[2016-02-03 14:50:47] <goodnightx3> @ParadoxInteractive: Can you share tec?
- no, you should build equipment and give instead
[2016-02-03 14:51:20] <Baltorin1> @Paradoxinteractive, how good is the AI compared to a real player? is the game supposed to be played in big multiplayers, or more like "co-op" or a singlepayer?
- IMO the game is best in single player or small multiplayer (like 2-8 players) but you can play with like 25 players and have fun as long as you have some house rules (or enjoy a very ahistorical experience). This is personal preference though.
[2016-02-03 14:52:38] <Kippielewin> @Paradoxinteractivewhats the enddate of the Game?
- you get a score screen 1948, but you can keep playing. I'v run a game to 1997 ;D
[2016-02-03 14:52:40] <whitehouseman> @paradoxinteractive can you see the amount of causalties sustained in a battle?
- no but you can keep track in the war overview screen

[2016-02-03 14:54:16] <raindirve> @paradoxinteractive Is the game Steam-locked?
- The game will require Steam to install and update as with our other games. You can play it offline however.
[2016-02-03 14:56:34] <casie13> @Paradoxinteractive is it possible to build the atlantikwall?
- You can build land and coastal fortresses that give you defensive bonuses.
[2016-02-03 14:59:04] <Kippielewin> @Paradoxinteractivehow do you unlock the locked slots in the division disigner?
- The next one is unlocked when you place something in the previous slot.
[2016-02-03 14:59:31] <EpicJesus90> @paradoxinteractive will there be a tutorial for new players?
- Yes. There is a tutorial that in my (BjornB) personal opinion is much better than previous ones. It is designed to help you get started, and you can continue playing it as a regular game after the tutorial bit is completed. It will set you up with a nice starting position.
[2016-02-03 14:59:35] <Baltorin1> @Paradoxinteractive, when does technology stop? what if you continue playing after the end of the world war?
- you will eventually run out of techs if you continue playing after the war, but imo this is better than game just ending whiel you are trying to do something.
[2016-02-03 15:02:52] <Killhim185> @paradoxinteractive : Is it possible to declare war on neutral nations such as Turkey or Portugal?
- yes
[2016-02-03 15:03:32] <LPOtheo> @ParadoxInteractive will you be able to seize supplies from conquered territory (Guns, ammos etc...)
- if you annex a nation you can grab
[2016-02-03 15:04:25] <Norwegianlolz> @Paradoxinteractive will there be mod support?
- The game is built on our Clausewitz engine and will support mods just as our previous games.
[2016-02-03 15:04:47] <si1verc1aw> @Paradoxinteractive do ships get the air support combat efficency bonus?
- no, but planes can help in naval combat
[2016-02-03 15:05:56] <Goran42069> @paradoxinteractive Are there any national decisions ?
- no, all that is part of the focus trees now
[2016-02-03 15:12:02] <pukdim> @Paradoxinteractive, Will we be able to convert Victoria 2 save files to play them in Harts of Iron IV?
- if some cool modders make a converter. The only way I would code and maintain that is if you gave me a million bucks.
[2016-02-03 15:12:19] <thetactician20> @Paradoxinteractive usa sent divions to britain japan attacks china by sea but only due to players will the AI opt for naval invasions?
- Ai does naval invasions quite often
[2016-02-03 15:12:57] <Vinnasy> @Paradoxinteractive so how the peace treaty works in HOI4?
- see diary:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...evelopment-diary-30th-of-october-2015.889096/
we ahve done a bunch of stuff since then tho to make interface better.
[2016-02-03 15:14:09] <nasdoss> @paradoxinteractive can you share your battle plan with your AI Allies ? Like auks current plan
- you can toggle if allies see your plans or not (bottom right below mapmodes)
[2016-02-03 15:14:49] <mnkymanfoo> @Paradoxinteractive how is Germany sending supplies to Japan if they have to through the ocean which is controlled by the UK?
- dunno without seeing exactly what happend, is their supply actually getting through though?
[2016-02-03 15:17:11] <huggypig> @Paradoxinteractive: How does the lose of the Capital will affect the country?
- chances are it will trigger a capitulation if unity is low enough, but if not supply will be re-routed and likely worse.
[2016-02-03 15:17:43] <tasaduros> @Paradoxinteractive I'll have a question about modifying: do you get a penality for modifying an newer model instead of an older one, for an example: exp cost for armour (mod 1940=50exp) (1936=25exp)
- no its same cost
[2016-02-03 15:18:27] <dedaas> @Paradoxinteractive Would the Soviet Union start rebuilding their war machine if a less brilliant general would stop his attack and try to pick it up later?
- I'd expect so
[2016-02-03 15:19:50] <NeutronHostile> @ParadoxInteractive Question: Can you leave or get kicked out of a faction?
- yes under some special circumstances, or if the war hasnt started
[2016-02-03 15:22:17] <TheThirdDad> @ParadoxInteractive Would it be possibly for like 4 infantry divisions with good gear and a very skilled leader to win over 1 tank division with a not so good leader?

[2016-02-03 15:09:30] <Joachim1337> @bjorn_paradox what are your options if another player decides to conquer you?
- Fight or ask him to stop?
