Do you have any idea how many units the Russians really have and how many of them are currently in the pocket?

No idea. It's a lot of course.I think I've wiped out a fair few by air power alone.I will see what's left as the pocket closes in..

LOL at you apologising for updates becoming sporadic then posting half an hour later.

Those were some surprisingly tough battles against the russians in the pocket. Are they actually totally out of supplies? I'd love to see a screenshot of a russian division in combat with the "-50% Lack of supplies" modifier.

Are you planning a strategic halt somewhere to build up your manpower reserves again? You've burnt through 80 MP in 18 days. It's a long way to Moscow and you need those warm bodies.

Yes,I have managed to squeeze in a couple of updates.
Screenie of lack of supplies has been included.
Not too worried about manpower. The Russians are crumbling in the north. My worry now is fuel. The latest offensive is using up 1000 fuel a day,so that will come to a halt before Moscow.

I think that's a bug in the game or perhaps WAD, the fact that each upgrade makes the units consume more fuel. Eventually you'll have a fuel consumption that can't be covered with the oil in the entire game.

One of the devs (don't remember who) stated that it is a bug that will be fixed in 1.4.

Is it really wise to move further into Russia, possibly having to reinforce the troops deployed in the area considerably once the area of attack widenes? That would tie up quite a lot of forces which would be needed to get rid of that pocket.

He can always walk backwards, but with advancing he confuses the AI, also he does not have to fight as much in Siberia. :p

I haven't been keeping up to date recently, but the "Forces of Doom"!!!

Someone has to have asked this, but that's got to be about a hundred thousand men in that sack. If you pull that off, just incredible.

A lot more than 100,000....over 1 million

This is where the AI get it wrong, any player with a single brain cell could work out that losing over a MILLION MEN!!! (Still trying to get my head around that figure. That's go to be a record? Somewhere this should be recorded.) Would be a really, really, really, really bad idea.

Amazing work, by the way, even with the appalling supply lines your probably encountering in Russia. Then having to deal with Russian troops every step of the way...That got to be hurting you manpower. I assume your using a mix of land and air supplies to keep your troops moving?

100,000 men lost in 12 days, at this rate by the end of the month you'll be down to about 100,000 men, and your reserves should be used up in three months. Enough time to crush the pocket? Yes. But, if the cold causes the kind of man-power drain that it does in HOI2 in HOI3, you'd better not still be fighting your way through Russia/Siberia by the time Autumn rolls around, at least not without substantial manpower reserves . . .

First of all, great AAR!

Secondly, I think that the term void would be a good name for this "little pocket". Although it is not empty I am certain that you'll send The Great Russian Army of the Pocket to The Emptiness... So for me it stands as The Void.

P.S. I can't imagine the stacking penalty for Russians in The Void when there will be tens of their divisions and one province left...

I think the advanced techs that the counties now wield in 1956 creates a gristmill for combat. Sure, its offset by advances with +manpower/first aid/combat medicine/helicopter techs but on a scale such as this, the divisions get proportionaly more lethal.

It must be horrible in that pocket, and it'll only get worse as it shrinks.

I loved the pic of the 4 para divisions attacking the Sov stack with over 100 negative combat modifiers. I guess they're going to have less and less choice about overstacking :D
