Patric, why do you give the details to the police and see if they can trace them and put a stop to this?

Yes, it will teach those kids a good lesson on not using pirate copy. Although it maybe long and difficult, the effort should worth it when you found out the culprit.

SWAT: The pirate is in the house. Blue team move out. Red team go go. Show no mercy.
Pirate: Who is it outside? I am busy playing Victoria.....
SWAT: *breaks the door* Die pirate!!!! *BAM BAM BAM BAM*

What I would propose to Patric is that each CD has some unique ID that can be traced through internet or that seeks Paradox. Then, once online, Patric and Co will know whether you bought Victoria, or whether it has been "passed on" to you...

On other news, I wonder whether people understand the legitimate drug we all are waiting for...

Stupid, oh so stupid...

BTW
Yeah, as much as I want the game now, I never would have downloaded it, since I know how much effort Paradox puts in their games.

That sure sounds tempting when you read it... Lyckliy, it's only 8 days left until my preorder is shipped :)

That'll teach me to play at my parents house when I'm visiting!

In order for measures to be effective, Paradox needs to have some kind punishment. Legally proving that if I'm playing the game on two different computers, I've not just taken the game over to my friends house in order to convince him to buy it too.

I'm not condoning piracy but a copy-protection scheeme that traces the IP numbers would have a few drawbacks.

bah...don't worry, i belive that anyone who even plays the pirated version will(sure he will!) get so addicted that he/or she is forced to order the original(to get most out of the game)...thus increasing the overall sales...my humble opinion of the whole case.

He also said the NDA expired when the game went gold, so I'm pretty sure he is lying through his teeth.

POST OF THE MONTH!

I wish I knew the e-mail of those "World's Dumbest Criminals" people. I don't think they have one...which is a tragedy...what material we have in Paradox Pirates!! :D

What do you mean 'how'? Keep it all in-house, on a closed LAN, completely cut off from the 'net. Take no chances. I'm not into the game-making business, but if I was, I'd take simple, basic steps to prevent these things from happening. It can't be that hard. You just have to remember not to underestimate the opposition. Don't even give them the opportunity.

The game didn't get out because Paradox's network was insecure, it got out because a reviewer/publisher leaked a copy.

Jagdmaus,
maybe the entire gaming, movie, and music industry should hire you, because every one of their products has been stolen prior to realease in the last year atleast. For instance I "heard"
of "some" ;) people in my University, watching the Matrix Revolution on DVD last Sunday, it only hit theaters yesterday. ;)
