Hi,

Progress on getting my head around the game code, sprites and .bmps and all the nooks and crannies is coming along well but i've hit a small psychological barrier.

Should i continue modding HOI2 DD or should i start with HOI2 DD Armageddon?

I no longer play Armageddon because of the ghost fleets and broken auto convoy ai. But, an upcoming 1.2 should address both of those issues, yes?

Which leads me to this question, if i begin to mod Armageddon 1.1 and 1.2 is released, will my 1.1 mod work in 1.2? I understand that no one can know for sure until it's released but for those of you that have modded the various incarnations as they were released is there a decent chance that most of my work survive the transition?

There're always new patches to be wary of, but modding DD at this point is like coming up with cool add-ons for Betamax.

Incidentally, the CDCP pretty much solves the ghost fleet problem. You should check it out.

And if ARM convoys are more SNAFU than DD, it's yet to become noticeable.

I actually have just checked out CDCP - it's almost exactly what i had hoped for (and then some).

The author (somewhere in that thread) lamented that the only way to fix the ghost fleet bug once and for all was to remove ship brigades from the game (making it just like DD for ships effectively).

I wouldn't mind knowing how to do this, seems like the best solution to me - ship brigades being ultimately uneccessary all in all.

As for convoy AI in ARMA, it was the very first thing i noticed when playing.

Try to play as Australia (or Japan) - by the end of 1936 your garrison in Tasmania will have starved to death . .

That doesn't happen in DD. . .

Go for Arma. If you're serious about the mod you're working on then you should be in it for the long haul, and despite Paradox' slow response time to serious bugs I do believe they will at some point release a new patch that solves the issues.

Armageddon V1.2 was officially announced on the main board, and is due in March or so. Hopefully, it will resolve the remaining issues.
