To Buy or Not To Buy? LoR

From what I understand, LoR is basically a Byzantine overhaul, a Roman Empire merger/creator, and retinues.

I generally prefer to play as small counts and such, but I'd be willing to try to recreate the Roman Empire. The Byzantine overhaul I don't care much about.

The retinues are the most exciting, but are they worth $5? How much do they affect enemy strategy? How much did they change your strategy?

i would probably recommend not buying it until they fix some of the most glaring problems.

Some of which include:

Courtier spam from raising retinues (causes large lag at towards end of game and makes all armies have very high level generals, makes nobles's martial skill irrelevent)

Factions raising huge numbers based on liege retinues, such as 100k doom stacks which do not take attrition (some people might like this though for some weird reason)

unrealistic mass conversion to orthodox with schism mending (at least in my opinion, it should not auto convert provences themselves on day 1 of schism ending) ((or is this added in the patch?))



some people might have different opinions though

Conquer territories, restore the old Roman Empire, form the Pentarchy, mend the great schism, make Catholicism a heathen religion, and bring the world to the knees of Orthodox.

Plus the retinue system. It's particularly useful to bring those independent counts/dukes you just released back into your realm, and to invade territories just like using mercs, but without the expensive cost and bad reinforcement rate/scaling of a merc.

If I can buy it now and deal with bugs until they're fixed, or buy it after bugs have been fixed, I'll still have it for the same amount of time without bugs. But if I buy now, I'll have it, although with bugs, for longer. There is no upside to waiting.
