Just a quick update on situation with France. I did not attack, because of lack of CB, and noone at war with France wouldn't form an aliance with me. Not even France, even when they were utterly beaten :).

The war has come to an end. France lost some land, and released a couple of nations. I was hoping for more but it's better than nothing.

France, before and after the war:

I did originaly planned to go for free trade, untill I realized I had no chance because of my high infamy. And I'm a bit of a warmonger, so my infamy is probably going to be high forever. :)
If you are going to be a warmonger you may as well forget about foreign trade.:(
Just a tip from a fellow warmonger.

At 10 infamy, a Aristocratic Free Trader (to say nothing of a Plutocratic one) can still trade overseas.

Remember: If you are at zero infamy, you are wasting the world's forgiveness. If you are doing a WC, you may at times need to take large doses of infamy to keep up with your schedule and use your diplomats efficiently. Beyond that, there is almost never a good reason to go above about 10-12 infamy even if you are a militaristic mercantile blob.

Do it with house rules no PU or Vassels.

You really should try to diplo-vassalize the newly formed countries if you want to annoy France. (Warning, you need a sizable Sphere of Influence for that.)
Is it worth the trouble? It would probably sooner or later drag me into another war with France. I'm now enjoying peace in Europe (well, it's engulfed in war but I'm staying out of it :)) and concentrating my efforts to conquer Indonesia.

Well then, I'll just have to acquire some more CoTs of my own :)

It's definitely worth it, especially for the vassal you're bordering, since these provinces are vital for your defense (mountains!) against France. Vassalizing them is the best way to weaken France by denying him his cores. It may drag you into a war earlier but it will also make it more easy to win it and to beat France for good.

I'll definitely give it a try, seems like fun. It's about time for me to turn to Europe, since I'm almost done with Indonesia.

Unrelated to that, what is considered to be a decent profit from trade? I own 4 CoTs but make (only?) 34 a month.

34/mo = 408/yr, which is good until you reach Trade Tech 15 and mediocre-to-poor thereafter.
