Gentlemen, I don't want to get into trouble by engaging on either side in your quarrels. :D Just let me know what game will we play prior to Sat. morning so that I knew which cds to take.

Fiendix you sad that i suggested Darth as Japan - that was not true, u put me in an uncomfortable situation cause i contact with Boromir some time ago that i would like to play Reich and that he wants to try Japan. I sad that if u don't want to play with Darth that i can play with him as Japan.

The issue was that I already talked with Boromir so there would be no "uncomfortable" situation. There was no need to get into specifics as they do not matter - whilst you just blew off and started to ridicule me for no reason....

Orthank said:
Did you suggested any compromise to reduce pause using? I can't find such post.

We need to think about that for eventuall further games as well.

yes well I did if you bothered to read and not jump at me all the time.

Fiendix said:
Pauseing can be nerfed - I for one know that now since I have played a little bit on HOI-PA - can give a lot more of the orders during the battles, tech aspects and management aspects without pausing BUT I refuse to NOT pause if I feel that the outcome can effect me losing units. Also last game we played did move much faster IIRC. Still it takes everybody to speed this up.

Fiendix your english is fine enough  .

and there you go again.. a senseless comment that does not bring anything constructive...

Yes a senseless altercation on Orthanks part. Dont know why he insists in attacking me in every post. I am sorry for that.

It seems we should have a go with 4 people at EU2. Since Darth is the most experienced in EU2 and probably would love to give us a whomping (revenge is sweet :D), as Boromir suggested he should start a post in EU2 forms (and post the link here) with a suggestion on which 4 nations (5 if Orthank changes his mind) we could play.

1. F. you just missed truth in quoting me once i replied you missed it second time i repiled and so on so i'm not attacking you ;) .

2. Boromir didn't suggest any compromise so i don't know why you F. answers post adressed directly to his s post about kind of compromise  .

3. Halibut if you accept the rules that we will discussed here that's fine but it may be painfull play unless you pause alot.

1) I havent the foggiest what you are going on about all the time. I did not miss any truth - you started to attack me for no reason.

2) He was refering to what I wrote - which u seemed to have missed - and what this is all about....

3) Last game went pretty fast and I am sure the next one will too if we all try at least.

Anyways I dont want to write further about this as neither Boromir nor I want to make such a house rule that you cant pause when you use planes. So there is no point in discussing in further so PLEASE lets stop and leave it as it is...

It's not about not pausing during air combat missions it's about pausing IN GENERAL so you guys want to play 1month game time in three hours of real play go on, i wont participate in it.

On another topic, I would also like us to have a house rule for future games that limits the amount of paratroopers a side can have to 2. Paratroopers as they are are a bit exploitish in larger numbers.

yes you can take over half the world with them. Maybe also add that you cant use them in territories that have less than 29 (or other number) infrastructure. Would stop exploits of dumping them in the middle of the desert with infra 0 just to encircle the enemy...

Paratroops?

I've never seen an exploit in our games with paratroops. But for sure this will be an intersting rule although not necessary as for now.

No paras in any territory under 29 infrastructure - they need badly infrastructure to exist and act properly :D . I think that that is what airborne divisions are - drop to the territory where is hard to get otherway.

Two per side so who will have paras Germany/Japan/Italy - which of those will reseign? Perhaps three per country and not paras but transportplanes.

Any sugestions about pausing  .

Actually I would say both transports and paratroops should be limited.

As for the pausing, I concur with Fiendix's answer. Also, so far, we have always agreed in the past that *new* rules had to be accepted by all players before we used them in a game. Since obviously this is not the case now, the "no pausing on planes" rules cannot be accepted. Of course, as a compromise, we can lower pausing on some issues that Fiendix pointed out, which do not affect the results of battles and such.

I don't think I can add much anymore to the discussion on pausing, so this is my last post on the matter.

Guys, you definitely confuse me :D. So what are we doing again?

Btw, Fiendix, you mean that last game where i spent my time developing as much tech tree as i could? :D

(seriously, i think you'd won even if i played the best. The setting was crazy!)

(btw, that was Budapest not Wien ;))

well the suggestion was, since you are the most experienced in EU2, that you set up a thread in EU2 mp - (I just took the liberty and did it ---> here <--) - with a list of 4 nations that we could play in the 1419 scen. - as I understand Orthank does not want to play EU2. Please also suggest a number of house rules that we should use.

As to the last game and tech - you seem to do it every game even though all of us tell you not to invest too much in it. And I think tha allies can win that setup. Thats why I am leery of a game in HOI on your side. Anyways no point in going on about it. In EU2 you cant overtech, you have more experience than us so will enjoy bashing me and boromir ;) and there is not a lot of pauseing - so thats why I favour EU2 as this weekend game. When Maschadow gets back we can go with 6 in HOI.

Halibutt - if you have any ideas of a balanced 1419 scenario please also give your imput.

I have started the thread in hope that maybe we can pick somebody else up by Saturday.

Great, I posted one suggestion there already. Also, I propose that if the EU2 game with 4 players turns out to be a bit unbalanced and results in too much AI bashing, we try a 4 player HOI game (as Orthank is probably not playing) - USA/USSR vs GER/JAP or UK/USSR vs GER/ITA.

So for the weekend, please have the latest EU2 1.08 beta - you can install over the CDP version (I guess this is the version we all have, yes?), by moving the english folders over the polish ones, installing the English language 1.08 patch and then the beta patches.

As for HOI, please have a 1.06b (fresh) install with *no picture pack*. I also have Exels sprite pack to install so that we get rid of the fighter problem.

I've just been reading your debate about pausing. Pausing is generally impractical IMO because a pause takes 30 seconds and if all players are trying to optimise their moves, the game will be constantly paused. The thing to do is run the game at a slow speed - very slow, if necessary.

For planes, you can put a stack of fighters into intercept mode and they will intercept automatically. The range at which they do this depends upon your tech.

It doesnt take 30 seconds if you remember to unpause.. (of course unless you have a lot to do). Remember this is a LAN game - where we sit in the same room so we can ask who paused and hurry him up (which we nearly always do :p ). Pauses can be dumped/reduced in different aspects of the game which I already suggested.

Intercept works 1 territory next to where your planes are based. This is problematic on the Russian/Germany front. Anyways last game we finished in 12-16 hrs IIRC correctly so it went pretty fast.
