Put your save game up on here so others can look at it. I can't but your diagnosis of the problem doesn't help all that much. Though it could be possible that one of your counties has gavelkind, as you have multiple counties. Doubt that's the case though, since I think that type of splitting of inheritance types occurs at kingdom+.

Since you have elective succession and you're a count, your bishops, mayors, and barons all have a vote in who will inherit the county.
Make sure that they like you, and they'll usually vote for your nominated heir (Nominate your heir in the laws tab).

Demesne can only be split if you have Gavelkind...and you don't. Unless this is a bug, I don't see how it's possible that your son inherits only one.

I can confirm that splitting of crown laws and inheritance only occurs at the kingdom level.

The fact that one of the counties will go to your other son is why it will be a "title loss". When your current count dies and you "become" your eldest son, you will have lost the other title to your brother.

Actually sorry... I am gavelkind.... But I have 2 sons and a daughter, so I'm not sure why one of my counties wouldn't go to the other son. He is not yet of age though....
This is how gavelkind succession works and your titles get split up amongst your sons. If you don't want this to happen, you either need to switch succession laws, kill one of your sons, or give your second son a bishopric to disinherit him (if he's of age and you have free investiture you can also just appoint him as a successor to a bishopric).

Be careful about giving your second son a bishopric, though. Make sure your first son has children, and that your ruler has brothers/uncles to carry on the family name if your first son (and his son) should die. You don't want to get End Game because you made your son a bishop.
I'd wait it out and get elective succession.

Also beware of Free Investiture.
Sometimes the firstborn hates his daddy and gets invited to some backwater county/duchy that makes him heir to a bisphoric.
Of course he's pretty sure being a priest in Argyll is better than being the Emperor of all Britannia, but who am I to understand how teenagers work?

I like to play gavelkind because of the additional challenge it brings to the game. In this situation my primary aim would be to get a duchy title. Then your second son can inherit a county and he'll become the vassal of the first son. If you can't get the duchy then it's not the end of the world because you'll get a claim on the county he inherits, just go to war to take it back. Maybe make sure you have a reasonable war-chest to pay for mercs before the inheritance (at least a few hundred) or hire some retinues and keep them on stand-by for when you need them.
