Should be unlockable through an Ascension perk, should require slot 3 or greater. Titan Class is the same class FE's use. Should be buildable through a megastructure, unlocked with the perk, takes long time to build station and is of course, expensive. The ships would be very expensive as well, and would take extremely long to produce. They would have access to the same slot that the Defense Stations have, aka shield regen, hull regen, slower enemy shield regen, etc. just like Battleships used to have.

If possible they should be limited in number, even more so than a usual ship might be, perhaps requiring a limited resource (living metal or something comparably rare) to build, and as long as the ship is in use that unit of the resource would be used up. If the resource is used up the ship would have stats updated to be at like 99% inefficiency (aka useless, a very expensive paperweight).

This is to balance the overall power of the ship, perhaps it would be a super rare power substance needed to fuel the ship, or a similar reason. This would also allow for balance to be in place, if an empire begins the long process of producing the factory for the ships, you can counter this by declaring war and seizing the territories that contain said materials, to prevent the enemy from using them. It would create conflicts between people, and create highly contested areas that might not otherwise have even been noticed. Just my two cents.

I think Titans have a fleet cap of 20 (same as the Dreadnaught) and a strength of around 10K. Ether Drake has a fleet cap of 4 and a strength of around 12K. I would much rather be able to clone ether drakes up the wazoo.

I kindof feel like game needs a few more ship classes. Given that the entire game is based on ship to ship combat... maybe we could use a few more classes.

Corvette > destroyer > Cruiser > Battlehsip seems a bit.. simplistic. Howabout:

Corvette > Frigate > Cruiser > Heavy Cruiser >Battlecruiser > Battleship > Titan > Leviathan

Maybe a bit extreme. But hey.

But more than new ship classes, we could use some more logical fleet formations. Nothing like the battleships leading the charge while the corvettes are in the rear!

Locking them behind an ascension makes sense as a way to limit them. I dont think the overwhelming steps to make them are necessary beyond the ascension. You are taking it in place of a different bonus after all.

They would be the only ships that still have access to the ship modifying bonus that stations have, that Battleships used to have, so that's one major reason to take them. They would obviously have the same slots a Titan class (fallen empire) ship has, the same number, but since they would be customizable, aka ability to make a massive capital ship with significantly different builds, aka one filled to the brim with fighters or bombers, or tachyon lances, etc.

Yes, overwhelming numbers does defeat a Titan Class ship, but one Titan is on average in the 6-8k range in power, or greater, which is significantly stronger than the regular run of the mill ships available.

On another note, if you guys have heard of a game called Galactic Civilizations 3, it's a game that has noticeably worse diplomatic options, expansion, etc., but comes with one thing that I would love to have in this game, a Ship Builder. It allows you to fully design unique ships and whatnot, fully customizing them in ways that Stellaris doesn't allow for, and though it can be gamebreaking at times, I really do like how it works. I'd love to build the Reapers (Mass Effect) again, only this time in Stellaris, and conquer the Galaxy! I love space games like Stellaris and Galactic Civilizations 3, I hope that both sides 'steal' ideas off of each other to make the perfect game.

This is seriously OT, but I really don't think the game needs more classes, just more interesting and balanced stuff to put in the slots. Everyone should be using a mixture of missile, lasers, railguns and torpedoes and that mixture needs to be balanced to prevent one optimal cookie cutter build.

There is no optimal, cookie cutter build, as specific builds can be used to counter other builds.

Honestly...I don't think this kind of implementation is a good idea. Titans right now serve the same role as X slot weapons - compensating your certain physiological flaws. They are huge, clunky and regrettably redundant in most cases. While Titans provide a somewhat ludicrous amount of fleet power, they get annihilated in the first days of any large fleet battle. And if we compare FE Titans to their Battleships, the former are about 1,5 times stronger which is not all that much, considering their price and vulnerability. Locking it behind so many requirements as well as using them as a way to inspire wars over rare resources is absurd, because they already are an "expensive paperweight" nobody would battle for. Besides, we have no idea how that would work with "oversized ship" from military dictatorship. My idea is to replace oversized ship modifier with Titans, and making them 2 as expensive as battleships. Maybe they should produce some unity as well as positive relationships with some empires.

I don't see any point in giving Titans to regular empires. FE should be left with their own ship lineup and regular empires could be given an extra 5th ship, but it should be its own thing, not a reskinned Titan.

Titan shouldn`t even be a classification, Dreadnaught is a far more plausible classification.

Considering the perks materialists and spiritualists have access through ascension perks....having those ships for militarists behind a ascension perk isn`t a bad idea.
