Hey there!

This is my situation:
I have the feeling that crusader kings becomes more and more slower as it updates over time.
Right now I can change to the highest gamespeed and are able to count every single day (Yeah it really became that slow)

It will always become slower as the game progresses, due to accumulation of complexity - retinues, courts etc keep growing through the game.

Erm, no, things like that aren't controlled by text files - the game will request memory from Windows as it needs it. It can now access 4gb, which ought to be plenty.

The only other thing I can see in your system is that the page (swap) file is in use, despite you having 8gb of memory:

If the game is being swapped out to disk, that would make it very slow too. Do you kill every other program before you load up the game?

While the game is running, alt-tab out to Windows and go into the Task Manager (ctl-alt-del). Look at the Processes tab and sort it by memory use. What are the top few processes and how much is each using?

Wouldn't it, technically, be possible to have a script run on your save game files that removes every dead character.. Sure, characters will have no history.. But I heard that the dead characters clutter up the game a bit?

This is without mods, I would expect it to run slow if I was using mods. Normally the game just slows down but it isn't that annoying but since 1.092 it isn't so much just the laggy slowing down as it is stuttering. it will run normally for a few days (in game), freeze for a minute or two, run normally, freeze, rinse repeat.
