Just got the game, and of course had to try the 1419 scenario. But, the game runs quite a bit slower than EU1 did for me. Even on the fastest speed the years pass way slower than in EU1 :|
I have an athlon 900 and 256mb ram, play in 800x600 resolution.
Anyone know of anything i can do to speed things up?

Look in the folder you instaleld the game in. There is a exe called EU2Settings. Go in there and turn the music off. That helps. Turn on the fog of war for sure. Play 1492. Fewer states= better performance.

I saw where there was discussion of an IGC for EU2 where fewer nations would exist. If this comes to pass, it looks like a winner to speeding things up a bit.

I suspect that will happen. 1617 is also perfectly fast and just fine.

But also, if you play a small, out of the way country, the game goes flying by. I play as the Aztecs, and since I have like 1 country around me(Hmm, I wonder who it was who conquered the Mayans and the Zapotecs? Hmm...), I am already at 1470's. Sure, it took me 3 hours to get there, but hey, I am not gonna complain. Let's me savour the game more and more. BTW, if you play with FoW off, but in an isolated area, does that slow down the game(I mena, I can understand how in Europe, with FoW on, it owuld require more effort(more little annoying countries and such. Or am I simply rambling on, meaninglessly?

You should defrag your hard drive right after installing EU2 and at least once a weak.
