Tips for Sweden and Russia

Every time I play Sweden or Russia, I have the same problem. With Sweden, as soon as I recover from the first war with Denmark (which I do within 10 years of start) I get declared on by both Muscovy and Denmark, either as allies or seperate wars. The same thing happens if I play Muscovy > Russia, only with Commonwealth and either Ming, Timmy, or Ottos. How to I prevent all my major neighbors declaring at once?

Get stronger, although as Sweden your expansion path are quite slim. But more importantly get alliances. Having multiple decent sized alliances will deter getting dow'd on.

At the start of the game as Sweden build troops and declare the independence war. Use danish rebels to your advantage by taking over their stage progress. You’ll have your independence at around 1448. Ally Poland/Lithuania England etc

Next attack Novgorod, if possible take the province Novgorod and the other provinces in that state. Novgorod will be weakened by Muscovys attack.
Covert to Russia culture and Orthodox to get the Russian government type. Then form Russia for the empire rank and tsardom.

As Sweden, you can establish some strong alliances by demanding support for independence. Just focus on the rivals of Denmark.

As Muscovy, you are not supposed to be that vulnarable to attacks. After Lithuania got PU'd by Poland, you barely have any threats for a long time. You can easily expand to form Russia.

Get AI allies to deter them from declaring. As Russia if your enemies are Ottomans and PLC odds are you can get alliances with some of the following: Denmark, Bohemia, Hungary, Austria, QQ, Mamluks, Timurids, Brandenburg. As Sweden you can probably get away with filling up your dip slots with german minor nations or try and woo PLC to your cause or maybe even Ottomans

As for Sweden, you can make the game way easier if you wait until you have developed Dalaskogen and Denmark is in a busy war. Go for Norway to gain warscore and get $ from the Danes in peace deal.

Fighting Russia isn't that hard if you make good use of Aland & Nordic Winter.

Once you fill out Swedish NIs and have a couple military ideas you will eat Russian armies for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

First war as Sweden take the skane market its almost as strong as dalaskogen before mil tech 7 and its a 20 dev province thus spreading renasanse faster

And you can block passage across Oresund. I’m partial to Gotland though, same culture and already a core.
