I just started my second game after unsuccesful game with Japan. (damn civilwar...)

Currently it's the year 1839 and I don't know what to do. Any genereal tips would be nice for the start.

I've constructed glass- and fabricfactory so far and spared some money, but since I can't build railroads there's nothing to do really... Also worldmarket isn't selling any paper so getting the profits from the factories is hard without workers...

Any tips, please! (And btw I love this game... )

Well, depending on how many craftsmen/clerks you start with, a paper factory should be one of your first investments.

Basically, look at what factories you start with. Try to figure out how to fully use them in resources and workers, and then build factories to supply that need, or alternately, build factories that take your finished products and bump them up another level to sell for more profit.

Early on you will not find a source of fabric, glass, or paper to buy on the World Market.

The thing to start with is always a luxury-furniture factory or a luxury-clothing factory, or, if need be, a artillery factory.
They are all money-makers, just check the WM to see if you can get the suplies.
Oh, and wait to patch 1.02 as that will include the bug-fix to the "Italian unification"-event.
Then, with Prussia's (or UK) help, crush France :D.
