I am on my third campaign (first two ones I played with portugal to get the hang of it, no enemies, only 1 army w/ 1 divison, no IC, etc.) Now on my 3rd campaign I'm triyng Germany, I succeded in the invasion of Poland, now it's 1940, I already annexed Poland, Lithuania and Denmark, and I'm looking forward west now, i FINALLY broke the maginot line after 2 months of intense fighting, and I'm invading netherlands as well. I'm going to leave Belgium for when I have Netherlands... I think I'm going well, appart that USSR DoW on me!! IN 1940!!! FRIGGIN EARLY!!! WHY DID THEY ATTACK SO EARLY? How am I going to stand a chance in two fronts and one of that fronts being particulary weak? Help please...

Also going through the maginot line wasnt good, it took you 2 months to do that whereas going through belgium etc you would likely have taken the majority of france in this time.

If maginot is as far as youve got it might make sense switching to the east and sitting in the maginot forts as the western front is smaller and easier to defend with fewer enemy forces, then go for the russians.

Either way its gonna be very hard fighting on 2 fronts at that stage.

Do you have italy with you?

Aahhh.... the historical German dilema...not only during WWII, but WWI and the century before - trying to avoid a two front war. Both times they tried to take out France before taking on Russia. In WWI they failed miserably because the commanding Generals were in too much of a hurry and circled short of Paris exposing their flank. In WWII, Hitler chose to attack the USSR - a collosul missjudgement, again due to impatience. You took on the Baltics which the Soviets don't generally care for too much. (Remember, the USSR was looking to annex the Baltics themselves.) In future games, you might want to do whatever you can to appease the Russians until you have taken out all of Western Europe - especially the British Isles. Only than can you free up enough forces to really be a serios threat to the USSR.

But don't give up the fight yet. One hint about the Russians, if you can break through their front lines and get behind them very quickly, they are vulnerable to encirclement. Otherwise, you better adopt an elastic defense stategy to slow them down as you try to clean up Western Eurpoe in time to defend the Reichland.

Best of luck. :D

Many thanks for your tips, actually it was kinda a newbie play and ahistorical situation going straight to maginot, I should have gone through belgium... And I thought I could annex lithuania, in the agreement between russia and germany they said I could have Poland, daznel(?), and lithuania, and they would stay with finland and the two other countries, I thought it was part of the agreement, but now I think I screwed everything... Too bad for a noob

The original form of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact (in August 1939) gave Lithuania to Germany, and gave Finland to Russia... among several other provisions.

It was later modified (in 1940), to give Lithuania (except for the Memel district and the area on the left bank of the river Sheshupe) to Russia, and to give Finland (except for the Karelian Isthmus and the Petsamo Peninsula) to Germany.

Still later (in January 1941) it was altered again... giving the area on the left bank of the river Sheshupe in Lithuania to Russia in return for 31.5 million Reichsmarks.

... so by taking Lithuania, you violated the 2nd (and 3rd) versions of the M-R Pact... the penalty for working from out-of-date documents!

Playing germany, learn your ministers, go to central economy, learn events. Bolster your IC for the first 2 years, have only 30 troops by the magnot line. Invade France the historical way and that is easy. Read up on history, historical way is great. :) just don't wait till spring to attack.

Also look in the folders for the events, becuase I capture denmark without firing a shot at their troops, and I can get france within 2 weeks of touching soul and only directly fighting 10 divisions as the rest just sit there and stop their advance to take back their land. Once I get paris and enough land Vichy france baby.
