Hi!
I'm a new player and looking for tips for playing Amazons, probably with Prometheans, though I'm open to suggestions if another secret tech suits them better.

Also what are the best NPC factions for them?

Good unit/mods combos?
Thank you!

Hi man, welcome to planetfall!
The combinations are endless.
Promethean is probably a solid choice for the weapon and mod synergies. With Amazons you might consider Xenoplague as well (do learn how to cultivate the Xenoplague though, read the skill descriptions!).
For neutral factions, depends if you are looking to play to the faction's strenghts (A) or cover for their weaknesses (B).
If A, consider getting Therians or Growth allies. You will gain powerfull mainline units who synergise with your mods (Growth) or specialistic Biological Units (Therians) and a terrifying tier 4 (the Apex Lion).
You could make the same case for the Psi-Fish as a good way to get access to Psychic damage, but unless you go one of the psychic techs (Psynumbra or Celestian) it is hard to synergize with them.
I personally dislike the Spacers, but they do have some synergy with amazons (early melee unit, powerfull Bio AoE which you can mod, and even some Psi damage later).
If you'd rather cover some of the factions weaknesses, such as lack of Arc damage, or access to cheap and reliable floaters, consider Paragons (Arc damage, overwatch and some tactical utility) or Autonom (floating units, all mechanical, great overwatch and great to combine GOLEMS with your grounding harness mod for tough frontliners early on).

I'd say the best way is to just start and experiment! Have fun!

Thanks! That is definitely helpful.
So I started a playthrough with Promethean and the game decided to put the Growth faction right next to my home colony. I guess I'm happy :)

It's so fun to play with the sleep, blind and poison abilities, I'm having a blast :)
And I see I can change the sectors to forest for more food and production, that's interesting...

Anyway, thanks again!

Vanguard player here.

Amazons always have to expose their T1 units when attacking because of attack range of only 5 hexes. Try to lower opponent´s defences with the Scan ability of the Biomancer. It is crucial that opponents are either debuffed or removed after attacks otherwise your squishy T1s won´t survive retaliation. Therefore try to mod them with any kinds of defensive mods. Deploying them onto flanks helps to increase survivability. As a consequence your commander should work as a bullet sponge for the opponent. Put her at the front and increase Vitality and armour. This should help you survive the early phase of any scenario without too much casualties.

Amazon + Growth have good synergy with plant units and mods from both, the Promethean Absorption Panels mod also nullifies plants natural Thermal weakness if you face another faction with Lasers/Promethean.

Early game, huntresses can blanket an enemy force with stun arrows to deny a large part of your enemy army an entire turn, which can be massively helpful. Don't be afraid to use them constantly. This especially helps in terms of moving into range for an attack, since your huntresses can move maximum range, fire their stun arrows, then move a tiny bit somewhere more reasonable and start firing a ton of regular arrows. The fact that they can ignore cover just makes this even more effective.
If you're playing Promethean though, you will probably want to swap them out with Amazon Purifiers at some point, who have many of the advantages of Huntresses but swap out stun arrows for the ability to start fires.

Broadly speaking, one of the things I love about Amazon Prometheans is that you can put PyrX Absorption Panels on your Arborian units, which would normally be weak to fire, and create an army of tree creatures that actually heal faster when standing in fire, which is pretty wild. Especially when Arborian Sentinels can use Promethean mods to burn terrain with their laser turrets. Combine that with their shield ability, and they can become extremely sturdy, rapidly-healing weapons platforms.
Promethean mods are incredible on Tyrannodons, though. They become extremely formidable late-game super tanks, able to set things on fire from a distance and then close in to heal from what harmed their enemies.

That said, there are loads of interesting ways to combine techs with Amazons. Personally, I love Synthesis Amazons, who can use Synthesis cyber-implants to supercharge their animal units. Network Nodes can empower Arborian Queens to go all-out with their abilities every turn, and Compromised machines can get absolutely rinsed by arc-modded biochemical units.
