I have seen numerous comments about the difficulty in drawing parallel one way roads such as a highway etc, but its fairly easy and not that time consuming to do.
Instead of try to explain it, I just posted a very small (1m:50s) and to the point video...

No voice over just a few annotations, I don't do youtube
Anyway, I hope this helps some people create quick and neat parallel roads ;)

Nice tip, thanks!

Nice....too easy but so effective....Thank you...!

Got any more tips like this...? ;)

When using the Marquee zoning tool, you can click and drag then release to paint precise squares or rectangles. Can be very handy when you don't want to just bucket paint both sides of a road or for mixing RCI in the same block.

Another small tip for roundabouts, although not always needed.

So, you draw the perfect circle for your roundabout:

Then you add the connections and it deforms ending up egg shaped, beyond repair (even if you remove the connection)

Instead, before joining to the roundabout, draw a cross section of roads in the centre, this prevents it deforming. Then add the connections

Then bulldoze the cross section.

This one really saved my day. How to create perfect circles and roundabouts.

After doing this you can use the upgrade tool to upgrade it to highways if you want to. Drawing a cross also make it easier to measure how big you can go without destroying the entire neighborhood. Also as @FX2K is pointing out. The circle will not get distorted when you have the cross and make connections to it.

Thanks for the tip, very helpful. However, like with many of these types of tips, there is a downside and that is it costs more since you don't get a 100% refund when you remove your initial "guide streets". Of course you can do these in the Asset and have some nice presets, but I still would like some additional guides in the game.

For the roundabout perhaps, but I'm pretty sure for drawing the highway the costs are the same, since no bulldozing is required.
For the roundabout, you could probably get away with dirt roads.

It costs 800 to build a section of road (cheapest one way road) which spans two major grid spacings (20 smaller)
It costs 600 to upgrade that section to a highway.
Total = 1400.

It costs 1400 to build the same length section directly with a highway

Thanks for the tips. It's very helpful but I still wish we had some real guides in the game without us having to resort to these workarounds and I really believe we need 2 way highway options for real bridges. Now all the highway bridges are one ways so we don't get those nice real world type bridges like Golden Gate Etc. Every highway bridge is actually 2 bridges.

But overall I'm glad I was led here. It's the best we have for now.

This is a fantastic solution for the moment, thank you!

That said, it would be nice if the zone grid just showed up for highways, even though we can't actually zone on it.

Great tip FX2K, thanks a lot for the video.
This is something I would like Colossal Order to fix, when laying highway you should have the option to click a button (like the buttons for curved road/freeform/road upgrade) that lets you choose if you want to lay both directions or just one direction.
