Something is not right here, St:Thomas has become the by far most populous state in Germany with almost a million inhabitants, half of them Jewish. Apparently the entire Jewish community moved there and became soldiers. :rofl:

Unhistorical results, sure, but this is pretty stupid :p .

I had Saint Martin and Greenland / Iceland.

The latter had over 1.3 million inhabitants, 95% German.

Saint Martin had around 500,000 - around 90% German.

Again, a huge amount were soldiers.

No Jews though. :(

Migration is still a bit odd.

In the "poptypes" folder under the Victoria 2 folder each poptype has a file. And in the files most (if not all) seem to have a bonus factor 4 to move to north/south america.
They also have bonus factors for moving to places with the same culture and religion, so if you by chance got jewish subjects to move there, more would follow. I don't know if minority pops are more likely to emigrate than others, but that might also be a factor.

Example from soldier pops:

Code:
country_migration_target =
{
	factor = 1

	modifier = {
		factor = 0.1
		unemployment = 0.1
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 2.0
		has_pop_culture = THIS
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 5.0
		government = democracy
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 4.0
		OR = {
			continent = north_america
			continent = south_america
		}
	}

}

migration_target =
{
	factor = 0.01

	modifier = {
		factor = 1.4
		has_pop_culture = THIS
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 1.4
		has_pop_religion = THIS
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 0.6
		unemployment_by_type = { type = soldiers value = 0.1  }
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 0.6
		terrain = mountain
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 0.04
		terrain = desert
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 0.6
		terrain = marsh
	}
	modifier = {
		factor = 0.2
		terrain = arctic
	}
}

1,2 million in Hawaii as Japan.
40k employed in fishing industry. And i couldn't get it to state, because only polynesians left were happily working as bureaucrats. Ok, or it was 20k polynesian artisans, 40k bureaucrats and about 1,2 million (mostly) unemployed japanese farmers. :D

So, i saved, edited save file, found the polynesian bureaucrat, changed them to japanese, reloaded and voila! accepted Hawaii as a state. Result- pop loss of 800k in a few month. Some went back to Japan, some went further to America. Crazy, i tell you!
