Hi, it's me again, and to bitch again
But it's all to improve the game, so I guess it's good in the end ^^
Well, my complain of the day is about the little, tiny armies you tend to get when stomping repeatedly over an enemy. Things like a whole dozen of 10 to 300 men large regiments, which have zero military efficiency, but are extremely annoying.
The problem is, considering how weak they are, they nearly always flee at the first hint of a battle, before any casualties can be inflicted. As such, they are nearly unkillable, just fleeing from one battle to another.
And yet, as small and ridiculously weak as they are, they sadly have all the abilities of a whole army, able to pillage, besiege and ravage the provinces they are in.
Something like that :
It's extremely irritating to hunt them down, considering their propension to flee without harm, and even more so if this happen in very wealthy regions, where your province's regiments are so big that they suffer a lot of attrition (see the "Attrition is insane" for this specific complain ^^), while each building lost represent a sizeable loss of income, all that to try to eradicate some puny 10-men large regiment.
It also feel quite unreal and weird to see a band of 21 guys besieging a "Huge Castle", and firing pop-up about such and such building that has been destroyed because of the occupying army 0_o
This morning, I had a real SWARMING of such buggers (war against Germany, I let you guess how many regiments there was...), and due to the lack of warning when a province is beseiged, I had to CONSTANTLY scan the whole map of my empire to see if there wasn't some 50-man-big siege somewhere wrecking provinces.
Harassing techniques and scorched earth (like avoiding big armies to pillage and ravage the province behind) are of course perfectly legitimate, and I don't complain about them. But not when they are done by 10 men who always flee when battle begins.
So I would really like two things, for the sake of realism and the well-being of my nerves :
- Make it so that no unit can flee the battle before at least the archers phase has been spent, ensuring that each battle inflict at least SOME casualties.
- Automatically disband any regiment with less than a minimal amount of soldiers (I would say something like 100 or 250), to avoid the situation seen in the screenshot above. Also, it would be understandable that a regiment desintegrate if it has taken such a beating that only so few men are left.
