Started up a GC on Very Hard on 1.05 as the Timurids. After a few years, when I was about to claim my first provinces in a peace negotiation, I first checked my BB points. They were 29! Apparently you start with that if you play them. Has it always been like this?

(The only diplomatic actions I had made so far was concluding some trade agreements, i.e. I had e.g. not made any DoW.)

I think it is supposed to be that way.

The timurid empire wasn't very well-liked at the time... ;)

Don't think so, as I just played a Timurids in 1.04, and started in the 'bad' category for sure (not sure exactly the value though).

It was okay since I just sat around for the first bit waiting for the disintegration events. At that point, with my poor play I ended up loosing Persia. Hmm, that made my badboy much better. I wonder why?? :D

Yes, the Timurids are uniquely blessed in starting with major BB points and inflation, and that is nothing new. There is no excuse for not going on a conquest binge, when you have survived the first century.

....And it is great fun, though the 'kill all the traitors' event choice can be hard to survive unscathed (the more power to you for doing so, of course).

forewarned is forarmed as they say

i am trying them out now. I didnt do anything except RMs, trade treaties etc and some gentle trading till the "big event" was over.

certainly didnt add to my troubles by adding provs or creating tax collectors. In the end holding on through it was a lot easier than i thought. definatly easier than china's ming dynasty event and russia's time of troubles

no its payback time for dehli mwah ha ha ha

The Timurids are one of the countries most helped by the modifications to the unhappy peasantry events in 1.05. No more +3 or +5 to the revolt risk for the remaining decades of the disintegration (and boy, did they add up pre 1.05), instead you get a a single clean stab hit each time.
