So are the Timurids vassals in 1444? If not, what would prevent them from being an empire.Vassals are always rank 1, so when the Mughal Emperors start talking orders from others they are automatically demoted to duchy rank.
Thats the only reason.
Mughals became vassals from time to time in their history
The #1 reason they succumb to rebels is a consistently ahistoric NDNHE spamming the heck out of rebels to an extent that only Ming and NED owner might otherwise see. Odd alliance choices don't help them, and neither does starting as a horde (which makes the kind of sense that starting Ottomans as a horde makes), but they most frequently shatter because they're given special, nation-specific screw-jobs with the express purpose of them shattering, probably because people complained when it didn't happen in previous patches and they conquered a couple giant Siberian provinces.
That made them "look too big" and let to junk like the "post your AI Timurids" threads as if it were actually a significant problem if a Timurids that didn't get conquered picked up maybe ~100 - 200 development over the timeframe instead. Somehow you never found this same crowd arguing for the partition of Poland to happen with the same heavy frequency due to NDNHE, curious how that works.
Extrapolating from DHE(Dynamic Historical Events), I'm guessing Non-Dynamic, Non-Historical Events...? Although that does sound quite cheeky when spelled out loud.NDNHE?
Hm, not really. After Akkoyonlu's carving up of Persia, the remnants were known as the Timurid Emirates, a confederation. This occurred soon after the beginning of EUs time frame. Arguably, (and correct me if I am wrong) but its fairer to call the older 'empire' the 'Timurid Dynasty' and hangers-on.
Personally I prefer DAHE - Deterministic AHistorical Events.Extrapolating from DHE(Dynamic Historical Events), I'm guessing Non-Dynamic, Non-Historical Events...? Although that does sound quite cheeky when spelled out loud.

Because Timudurids never referred them self as Timurid, but as Gurkani did they also call the confederation Gurkan Emirates?
Gurkani, iirc, means in english "in-laws". So this is how Timur's dynasty did things - after a staggering 15+ million deaths and Timur's own death -to sign bits of his territory off to relatives of which Babur was ,eventually, one. The Great Mughals by Bamber Gascoigne is an excellent read on the subj. btw. I guess "Gurkani Emirates" sounds appropriate.
