Playing 29 march patch (Johan - get off the expresso and Jolt cola for crissakes:D ).

Timurids just cannot keep things going in the latest patches when they get no income from their provinces wothout TC. Seems to be a race to see who can acquire the provinces by revolt the fastest. Uzbeks always do well as do Mamelukes if they can get close by annexing Kaliphate.

Now the Timurids should fall apart but they should be left with something.

Suggestion: Swich the general revolt risk to a lower level and add province revolt risks to make it up to the same number in all provinces apart from the heartland of Samarkand and a few others provinces. Add TC's to these heartland provinces too. Will try to script something tonight but welcome comments before I try.

Yes, the Timurids lose about 47% of their total annual income without Tax Collectors, poor sods, and can never afford to build TC's when AI controlled.

But hey, that is nothing. I saw an AI China (richest nation in the world) go 20 years from 1492 without appointing a single tax collector, because of a lack of ready cash. This was with the march 30 beta, so let us see what happens with the march 31 :)

When it had it....

...Which it often did not, because it did not get any census taxes at all, and did not raise enough cash to build anything at all.

With the odds of building tax collectors substantially increased :)D), it would seem to now be a case of setup. AI nations that start with a fat bankroll will get tax collectors built (and this is a self-sustaining process over time), nations without will not, or will still take long to do so. Ah, well, enough pontificating. Time to run a hands off test of PAoE 1.03 with these changes before release. I had nearly reached the state of granting a large number of countries some starting tax collectors to deminish the problem. :)

Btw. Any chance that the BB for tps and colonies can be brought into alignment for diplo-annexing and conquest, now that fractional BB are possible? Say 0.25/tp and 0.50/colony no matter whether you diploannex or conquer?

Which was right until most of the money used for fortresses dried up with the tax collector change. Right now you have to build up the tax collectors before the forts. Thats what I always do - 100% baliff folowed by minimum fort.

BTW Johan - I presume you've read the Census Taxes and Tax Collectors thread. Any thoughts on a non-zero tax income without Tax collectors to reduce this problem somewhat (25-50%? Modded by Monarchs admin?)

I'd actually like to see a simple remedy for the Timurids: No revoltrisk in their core provinces (Samarkand, Kabul, etc. etc.) It might be drastic and slightly unhistorical, but I just can't see any other way to keep them alive and strong enough to become viable Mughals.

They have to break-up, to form Persia from part of it.

I've run 50+ complete free-hand test games the last month, with the various patches.
Persian formed in all games and so did the Mughals. Sometimes small sometimes big.

But weird countries are more and more beginning to mess around over there.
Common is of course UZB and NOG who always seam to get too much – but eventual loses them.
MAM is lately more often getting a piece of the pie too, he tent to lose most or all to revolt again though.
AKK, CAL, ARA, BAL and QAR now get good chunks of the deal, in one-way or another.
Funny and a good random aspect (that I like) but unfortunately is cost Persian and the Mughals ‘space’

Yes though in the 1492 scenario they get cores on afghanistan as well. And not too long to wait before unleashing the tiger.
