Just replayed a few years of the 1492 scenario as Spain with the new patch.

I couldn't help but notice that the designers have been making attempts at bringing the war with Grenada a bit more in line with history. And I applaud that.

It really annoys me that I can't play out the events of 1492 in an historical manner. If I wait until Grenada falls before launching the Columbus expedition, he probably won't get to the Bahamas before year-end.

Is there any way to start the game with Grenada already under siege and on the verge of falling ? That way the historical sequence of events in 1492 would be possible (Grenada falls at start of year, Columbus launches expedition AFTER fall of Grenada, discovers New World in the Autumn). I realize that game mechanics make it impossible to have this work out correctly. I keep replaying 1492 every time a patch comes out, and it's starting to feel like a recurring dream that you can't make turn out the way it played out the first time. Very frustrating.

I believe that the IGC for EU 1 took the view that since Granada was conquerred very early in January 1492 it would be more accurate to have Spain already control of Granada at the beginning of the campaign.

I believe this was as much to free a TAG. If you play spain all you had to do was march in and assault and Granada would be annexed before end of february. The AI even had time to move its armies out of the way as it could march into Andalusia faster than you could get into Grenada.
