Quick and dirty answers:

A long war is one that sees your war exhaustion go high enough to cause rebellions. A short war is one where the enemy offers you three provinces 30 days after having declared war on you. And a war of comfortable duration is one where you don't suffer noticible exhaustion but your enemy gets torn apart by rebellions.

A short peace is where you've just used your last diplomat to settle a BB war, and five different alliances declare war the next day. A long peace is when you go through the entire game without ever being at war. And a perfectly timed peace lasts 9 years, 11 months, and 29 days (assuming you're in an alliance).

Just remember, there are ways to manipulate things to get different answers (I once alligned with a newly independent Milan just to restart the 10 year clock).

To me? Long war- 10 years long. Short war- 1 month. Good war- lots of 1 month wars.
Short peace- later the next day. Long peace- 1 day. Good peace- 1 day.

Well I've been in a war for close to 30 years before (usually BB wars) so long wars for me is anything over 20 years when your tech starts getting wrecked.

Short War would be well, the same month.

Perfect war: 5 years, 10 annexations, 50 provinces :D ;)

Long peace: Where you go against France and you'll have to get every province before they'll give you your 3 provinces

Short peace: 3 provinces after storming them with three armies (or 40 days)

Perfect peace: Annexation!

Bah, we know you like it....:D :D

An acceptable war for me is one that doesn't cause any damage to my provinces. I hate to get my income messed up by looters of any sort.:)

Forgot to answer my own question.

For me a long war is one that someone you made peace with at the beginning of a BB war can DoW you again before you resolve the same BB war.

A medium war is one were I just barely avoid the above.

A short war is were I send them in and knock over ever fortress they have in quick progression.

Long peace is one that I acctually consider going to war with the strongest nation around just so I have something to do.

Medium peace is one were I can build up my forces into a formidable fighting force and am ready for the next round of fighting.

Short peace being one that I get maybe a couple years rest and get dragged into a huge war by a stupid ally.(I hate England for this reason!)

And yet ... ;) :D

In my limited experience, any war that lasts for ... oh ... ten years is long.
A short war is somewhat less than the long war.
An acceptable war is one that I am able to win, obtaining some recompense that increases my territory or my treasury, either one will do.

Peace is only there to help prepare for the next war. A short peace simply means that I wasn't ready for the next war. A long peace is where I let opportunity pass me by. An acceptable peace is simply not acceptable.

These terms only apply to the game. In real life, none would apply. Probably an obvious statement to all, yet I felt compelled to say it out loud. I have many compulsions. Playing EU being one of them. Posting on forums being another.

If I miss you, a most pleasant and happy Independance Day to you all. May no one lose more than two fingers off of any one hand during the festivities.
