a choice to have the timeline be option of the game so u could extened it
for example u could put 1820 till 1940 instead of it being a rigid 1820 to 1905
or whatever the timeline is

Also, the timeline is 1830-1920.

No, it is 1835 - 1920. :)

When in doubt, check the FAQ. :)

Doubtlessly, someone will make an "Johndoe's unlimited time patch" and someone will create an 1820+ scenario...

Hell, I know I will make such a scenario when the opportunity arrises. :p

Sweden will of course be slightly larger than the 1835 borders... ;)

Yes, the current timeline is not at all satesfying. They should start in 1820 like "Imperialism". It would also be a continuation of EUII which ends in 1819.
I want to have Poland on the map.... so I can divide it with russia and Austria! :D Also the events that lead to the establishing of the Balkan-Nations.

I hope not. Although EU, HoI, and Victoria are somewhat similar in style, each one contains many features that best suit its historical period. To use the system of one for the time period of another would be to lose all of the features that Paradox specifically created for that time period and to add many features that do not necessarily suit that period.

I'm sure there would be problems to be solved, but knowing the community of modders here, do you really doubt that at some point someone here will try to do this? I've already heard it mentioned by a few people....

This is a little off the original topic of the thread but it relates to the TIMELINE of Vicky (A Suggestion)

Judging by the screenshots it looks like vicky is going to be scaled in days like in EU/EU2.

Sense the game is still in devlopment maybe they will change it but 100 years in EU2 isn't all that long in SP

Using hours like in HOI isn't reasonable either as then the game would take forever.

I propose:

days are broke up into 4 parts:
DAWN
AFTERNOON
EVENING
NIGHT

this way if planes were added they could leave in the dawn and return in the evening...combat would happen in the Afternoon tick of the clock.... and all the factors of nightime in warfare will still be in Vicky without greatly affecting the game longativity

I also think it will add to the depth of the game....masses of troops unloading in Calias under the cover of dark.

U-boats attacking british convoys in the still of night as well

I think it should start earlier though definatly not finish later.
EU2 was totally unrealistic and stupid towards the end of the game with sieges still taking place, Vic should start 1800ish. It aint going to until someone brings out a mod so I'm not going to say much though I wanna kick Napoleons sorry little arse :(

I really like this idea. I think it would add a lot to the game, and I would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to implement, since they already have the mechanics for the difference between day and night combat worked out from HOI. I really, really hope they seriously consider this. I feel (as do you) it would add another level to the game.

yeah thats a cool idea i like it, and about the timeline someone will eventually make a fix but it would be fun if paradox built in a thing that you could change by yourself.
