I’ve re-read the dev diaries for the third or fourth time and am looking forward to the release more than ever. Thanks to the entire team for the dedication to the series and their fan base/customers. The desire to make everything as detailed and as bug free as possible upon release is commendable and sadly not the norm today.

My ONLY concern is the war was only 6 years long? How can we implement all/many of these great improvements/additions (compared to HoI3) in just 6 years?

Example: The image shows that Japan’s Zuiho Class Aircraft Carrier will take 7.07 years to complete. I’m just concerned that due to cost and time and 1941 (Pearl Harbor) that very few if any of these will ever see combat. It is a lot of manpower, IC, raw materials etc. for a country like Japan to commit to uninterrupted for more than 7 years.

I want to have the biggest, the best, the most expensive, the most improved, the most enhanced etc. of everything that is available for all branches of my armed forces no matter what major I’m playing. I’m just concerned that the length of the war (real life) will prevent much of the biggest and badest from ever making to the front lines.

I could also be 100% incorrect (just ask my GF) and am thinking of this entirely the wrong way? Or there are other factors I don’t know about? Or I’m just beating a dead horse? Or I did not take into account this or that? Which is why I’m asking you now.

Also there is not an answer that could be posted that will prevent me from buying this game the minute it is available, buying a couple of DLC’s, playing for a few thousand hours etc. I’m just curious.

I’m sure the great folks at Paradox have thought of this issue themselves. I’m sure it may have been posted somewhere at some point. I’m just trying to grasp time lines. No criticisms, just a question.

Well, for starters, the timeline is actually 12 years long (from 1936 to 1948), and even then, you can still play after 1948 (there will just not be any new tech or events).

Also about the picture where it takes 7 years to build the aircraft carrier, it most likely takes that long because only a couple of factories are building it. You can assign more factories (up to 15) to any one project.

The game itself supports 12 years (1936-1948), but it doesnt end if you dont want it to. At one point you wont have anything to research left and probably conquered most of the world of course, but it doesnt simply end on you. Besides that it is not guaranteed that the war will be 6 years long.

As for the buildtime, it takes an considerable amount of time to build an ship, especially something like an carrier of course, but you really shouldnt look at those numbers. They are far from being balanced and not final.
