I'm just finishing up a Sultan of Rum run with the Otts and I am curious if I wanted to try to invade the new world (which is already heavily colonized by the Iberians) how would I go about breaking up and absorbing colonial nations?

Would it be a slog--hundreds of years (since Iberians are already very entrenched with large, and multiple colonial nations) and not worth it? Or is it doable.

Never really tried whole scale conquest there.

To set up your own colonial nation, you need 5 cores in that region. When fighting the Iberians, if you conquer lands in the New World, you can ask for them in the peace deal. They'll be cheap war-score wise, but cost diplo points. If you take 5 from multiple regions, and core those, then in the next war(s) you can take whatever you want and they'll get added to your colonial nations. You'll need your own troops over there however to deal with rebels. Due to the cheap warscore, it won't take hundreds of years, and aside from the first war, there'd be no OE. What it would take is a lot of diplo point.

Is it worth it? Depends on your goals.
