Austrian Empire
Open letter to the princes and ministers of greater Europe:
Our historians are still working on an official report to fully explain the events of the last two years, but we find that matters of diplomatic prudence including the weakening of the peace of Geneva, cannot wait.
Our Empire and the German Confederation owes its life to our faithful allies of the President of the Prussian State and its National Assembly, and to the trustworthy King Oscar of Sweden and his government. Yet though we are stronger allies then ever, the new Emperor Francis Joseph wishes to hear all nations and promises to exercise the utmost concern for European peace. Our conservative alliance has now rejected the philosophy of Metternich, though we be sworn enemies of Marxist anarchists. We honor the valour of Italy and Greece, who won their titanic sturggle for freedom from arbitrary rule. We would like to offer great friendship to both Victor Emmanuel and his minister Cavour, as well as the people of Greece, and whomever they truly accept as their rightful King. Though Austria is a multy-ethnic nation, those within her borders are not oppressed like eastern serfs, who's autocratic master Nicholas sadly still lusts for our modest lands. Lastly, Austria knows no contempt for Napoleon III, and views the recent conflict with the Nation of France as a tragic misunderstanding. May our future with her continue to look bright indeed.
God's blessings on your houses and his wisdom be in your counsels,
In the name of our great nation of justice and civilization,
Sincerely your friend,
Austrian Minister of State - Werner Octavian VonStrauss
