IMO Madurai is underappreciated as a similar endeavor to Granada or Byzantium. The Pandyas easily the oldest dynasty in the game (perhaps with the exception of the Katochs?) at the start and has been reduced to just an opm at the southern tip of India that doesnt even control its old capital (though they do start with a bunch of cores on Vijayanagar.

Well, I don't know anything about Madurai, but the Roman Empire lasted for more than a thousand years longer than the Umayyads did, and arguably had a larger influence on the world

I wont argue influence but the Pandyas date back some centuries bc. That said its not really clear how closely related they are to the guys you see in India in the game. There was really a number of lords in this province (and more than one Pandya branch even).

I don't understand why paradox devs are helping such a thread to reach more people, that will just end on a never ending dispute. Thanks to your responses people will look here just because a paradox dev has replied. So what about that thread that I have linked? have you forgot about it in just a week?

Dev participation in discussions is not limited to the suggestions forum and isnt intended to be as far as I know. :)
If you search for my previous posts you'll find I direct suggestions to that forum. You'll also find plenty of replies in the actual suggestions forum. I tend to limit replies to things that fall within areas I can implement however.

Madurai started out as OPM in 1444? Interesting... usually, when I discovered India, I almost always found Madurai being still around and was more than just an OPM. Must be quite some luck they had. ;)

The tag is also used for the Madurai nayaka which historically broke off from VIJ along with a whole bunch of other governorships in the wake of the sack of the city of victory at the hands of the Deccan sultanates.
The Tamil lands where very economically dominant within the empire and the risk of them breaking off was a reoccuring thing untill they did. In 1444 they're pretty freshly conquered still.
Madurai revolting is also more or less what tends to happen in the game (it is very rare to ever see both Bahmanis and Vijayanagar splinter but thats just down to how the game works).
As far as eu4 is concerned the nayak state of madurai is probably the more important entity compared to the Pandya remnant. Any NI set would have to reflect both (not that big a stretch tbh though, given how similar their circumstances wouldve been if the Pandyas had stayed in power).

Its before the games timeframe but there was also a Madurai sultanate for a while, the city is one of those places that lend themselves to building a kingdom around :)

Buuut i fear we are drifting off topic now. I mostly wanted to mention that they're there, it's been interesting reading the discussion that followed though :)
