JaxomCA - I had to go back and look but yes Hungary annexed Venice. I didn’t even noticed it happening. Just goes to show how on top on things I am. Speaking of being on top of things I haven’t even considered that Avignon would try to pick on France but looking at it I can’t say it should surprise me. So far Avignon has been minding their own business. I don’t remember them ever successfully sending any men in the wars to help that I’ve been in. I agree about Dalmatia. It would just be distraction to my master plan.
And let me tell you I have a master plan for Sicily that is so brilliant that it makes me sit up in awe and rub my temples from the pain of dreaming up such a, well, mastery plan. I mean this is true inspiration to such a degree that I think I must have been brain dead to come up with it. I haven’t been this brain dead since the time many years ago when I decided that it would be a good idea to start a camp fire with a cup of gasoline and lit cigar. Boy was that an eye opener. Do you know how weird it is to walk around without eyebrows? ‘She who will not be denied’ who was at a young and tender age remarked that I should get tattoos in place of my eyebrows. I think that’s when I fell in love with her lovely pragmatic nature. My plan for Sicily is so over the top that I’m praying, praying big time, that something, anything under the sun will happen that stops me from doing what can only be described as through the teeth and over the tongue look out liver here it comes type of lunacy. I don’t mean to imply that I have doubts that it will succeed,, no not me. It’s just that I think it has as much chance at success as I did when I was 16 on my first date with dear sweet Claire at getting a kiss. (Don’t ask)
Chief Ragusa - You want to guess who the rabble-rouser was in all this? Siena that’s who. They declare war on Venice the first time and that’s when Sicily got most of Venice. Then Siena declared war on Tuscany. Meanwhile the Ottomans jumped on Sicily and the rest is history.
One of the main problems I’m running into with EU3 is that the AI has a major mind lock with the sliders. Look at what I wrote to Amric for part of the problem. I have two or three sliders that I would like to move in a different direction but if the AI is just going to move them back then what’s the sense in screwing with them?
Amric - Funny you should ask. On the East coast of South America Sicily has a colony, uh well they had two but there was an influx of spies that caused one to burn to the ground. There is also one on the West coast of South America right by the Inca Empire. This did cause me to suddenly sit up straight and cock my right eye-brow, which means the little gray cells started working overtime. Unfortunately all this caused was a sweaty brow and little else. The problem or I should say the ‘problems’ are that with my slider positions I will get my next colonist about the time Armageddon arrives. Also I can only see two Inca provinces and I don’t believe that if I’m at war with them that I can attack into terra incognita so I can’t win the war. So I could spend the resources to build a fleet load it with men and sail halfway around the world to accomplish what?
With the Teutonic Orders my dilemma is that I’m not being forced to make a decision. I can still continue to build up in the south or take my chances moving north. I think the next turn is going to be a deciding turn.
Stroph1 - Never underestimate the power of a name. Look at it this way if you name your son Sue (cue Johnny Cash) what do you think will happen to the poor kid?
Fulcrumvale - If you think you’ve seen inflation just tighten up your seatbelt and grip the handrails because you haven’t seen anything yet. The goal doesn’t give a flea-flickers hindquarters about inflation.
Nil-The-Frog - Good to see you again sir. Hope you’re settled into your new job in France and all is going well. Now listen to me you’ve got to get over this fear of inflation. As I’ve said in other posts I don’t even begin to worry about it until it hits 20%. I mean I bleed inflation with the first pin-prick of economic misfortune. It oozes out of my pores in a steady stream of red ink that gives a new meaning to red tide alert. Yea I do exaggerate a little because it depends on the size of your country and which tech group you belong to but still it is one of the aspects of the game people worry too much about. Japan is probably going to be at greatest risk but it doesn’t matter if they are the ones to get to the goal first does it? So repeat after me. “Inflation is good.”
Vann the Red - Good to see you. I’m slowly coming around to EU3. It’s taken me awhile because of the lack of historical perspective but it is an intriguing game in many ways. One day who knows I might even master it. Yea right.
Merrick - Fortunately the next turn with Japan is one of those turns that brings a smile to my face.
oddman - Thank you for dropping by and feel free to offer advice since as you can see I need it.
Murmurandus - Thank you sir I don’t know if lovely has been used in my company since Mrs. Parker, my fifth grade teacher in an embarrassment at how to describe a miserable crayon painting that I gave her muttered “How lovely.”
