Thoughts on the preorder bonus for the incoming DLC.

Puzzling. Why would Paradox pick three additional characters as the preorder bonus, which actually sounds like three fewer characters for those who don't preorder?

Of all the contents already prepared for the DLC, isn't that flavoured map & UI the best choice for the reward? I must say, when compared with it, a few more characters are not attractive at all.

Instead of being confused and realizing their game is missing a few French men due to not preordering a DLC in 2023, the new Victorians who will buy the game in the future should have access to enjoy the same game content, and hopefully become regret for not buying the game & DLC earlier when they see the well-decorated interface.

This one really wants to witness Victoria 3 become a successful and profitable game! But the bonus setting is really unreasonable.

This can have different reasons. Greed? Or so that certain developments can be financed earlier. No idea why, but the goal is to encourage more people to send their money to Paradox sooner. Of course, the best way to do this is to make people feel like they're missing out something if they don't pre-order.

I find it pretty nasty, just cosmetics is bad enough but even content getting leftout if you do not pre order is a new low. What is so bad about a pre order discount?

Exactly. I was up for purchasing the grand edition but this has left a bad taste in the mouth.

It is so disappointing, I already own the grand edition but I am not feeling good about it right now.

What is so bad about a pre order discount?

Well that one is easy, less money. If your intention is to merely get more money now then cutting a piece of what you'd normally offer and using it as an incentive to get money now instead of after you release something will net you more money then giving a discount. On a surface level analyses that it.

To be clear, I'm completely opposed to pre-order bonus, full stop. I might buy something early if there is a discount and I'm fairly certain the product will most likely be worth the money, but as soon as pre-order content is added to the mix, I'm out.
