Hey guys,

I was hovering over the purchase button for the AoW DLC on steam (I really can't afford it atm but I am so tempted!) and I was looking at all the unit packs, monuments, and worst of all the Advisor Portraits and had a thought:

Would anyone else like those scrapped and combined into one manageably priced DLC?

I could obviously complain that they are charging for them in the first place, but considering all the stuff we get free in major patches it evens itself out, but selling them at £0.99 / £1.59 (I''m in the UK) at a time seems a bit much.

I love the game, and some new unit skins, and flavour additions would be nice after over 300+ hours of gameplay, but it does seem a tad too much in its current form.

Anyone else think a one off £3.99 payment and the current and any future skins, monuments, portraits etc would be better?

It makes no difference I guess, and I am in no way complaining because Paradox isn't even close to some other companies like EA when it comes to this stuff ... but it does seem a little much.

Am I wrong? Anyone else feel the same?

Just wait for them to go on sale with a big discount.

For example, you can get the Native Americans and Conquistadors unit packs with a 75-percent discount at the moment from GreenMan Gaming or Humble.

I completely agree, but think about it, if that's what most people do, doesn't that suggest the price is wrong? :)

Plus, as I said, it would be better combining them altogether under a single aesthetic upgrade pack or something, not individual skins, or one set of monuments or another ... and the muslim portraits actually should have just been free tbh, that's the one that sucks most of all.

I only buy some of them (I couldn't care less about European sprites, but bought both Native American packs the moment I saw them), so it works fine for me as is. I can see why a combination pack would appeal to people, though, given how large the list gets when you come into the game later and many sets have already been released.

I imagine eventually there will be something like that, ala Crusader Kings, though the problem is that any "DLC pack" not released at the end of the game lifecycle will quickly become outdated and confusing as further DLC come out.

That's why I thought a one off payment, you get all the DLC and then any future skins etc stuff aswell?

The other problem is its going to be a kick in the teeth to anyone who has payed already.

It was just a thought, because as I said things like that would add some flavour, albeit only on the surface, but the pricing seems off somehow.

I like the fact that they are separate. Now so much with EU4, where I don't really buy any of the graphical options (music is great), but very much so in CK2 where I can ignore units and shields and go for the portraits.

What they might want to consider is an "EU4 subscription" where for a slightly lower charge you get all the DLCs automatically. Sort of a supercharged preorder, with guaranteed income for them. That sort of thing has worked for some publishers in other areas (Paizo comes to mind), although maybe their schedule isn't regular enough for it.
