I get those all the time, these events are usually how I find out that some prisoner reverted back to me as their tutor (since I dont get any notification for that elsewhere). Like I'm always glad when I hire a smith and then get the event where he can teach a kid I tutor to become brawny only for me to realize it's not my heir but the inbred baby that some prisoner just had in my jail.

I am wondering here, because I think I nevered actually tutored imprisoned children. I mean, i am set to be there guardian, but i can not give them ambitious for example (raising an army of rivals to duel)

Yeah, you can. I do this all the time to have plenty of rivals to duel. :) You have to have at least two attributes at 12 or above, though, and you have to be their educator/guardian when they hit adolescence. :)

Bonus points for when the kid had inherited loads of cash, then on their 16th birthday you banish them, taking it all, and see if they last long enough to die dueling you.

Well. Yeah. That's why you invite parents and then kindly ask them to leave again, leaving their children back so you can get more rivals.
However I never get that option for children in my prison

I usually only notice that there (were) are children in my prison when they turnd adult and end up with a bad education trait and I be like... who the hell is this guy or who will take you as concubine?

However - it might be the case that they would get the Smith event, but I don't know because I hardly ever search for a smith

Can anyone confirm (or not confirm) that the court size has an effect on "COURT_SIZE_CHILD_PENALTY_THRESHOLD = 30"
From what I understand the penalty for new children in the court as no effect after the new court mechanics, even if you turn the rule off.

Just read my post next time, please. My issue is that the COURT TUTOR DOES NOT TUTOR PRISONERS. You are FORCED TO tutor these children or manually set a tutor for them (one by one) - and will have to check if those tutors are still assigned every couple of months because there is no notification if the children revert to your ruler as their tutor. This is so idiotic, as there is no logical reason why a ruler would tutor imprisoned children while there is a court tutor. I think children in the dungeon shouldn't get a tutor and only those in house-arrest should, and that by default should be the court tutor. But either way, my point still stands: The ruler should NOT be the default tutor for prisoners instead of the court tutor.

I don't even get a notification when my court tutors dies; the first time I realize it is often when I have to make an education decision for a child who isn't in prison. Is there a way to get notifications for when an honorary title other than Commander or Designated Regent comes open? I don't really care about titles like Master of the Horse, but I'd like to know when my Court Tutor dies.

Yeah, I got you. I'm saying I get the event for imprisoned children as well. :) When I go raiding I usually have tons of rivals after some children have grown up, and as long as I educate them to be pagan as well I can even fight the female rivals without penalty. :)

(If both parties are pagan it's one of the exceptions to the penalty for fighting females as a male.)

In my current game I haven't been raiding in ages since I got locked up in seclusion for YEARS due to the black plague. :( My total prisoner count went from over 100 down to 5. Yet I still have 12 rivals, all of them from giving them Ambitious after they hit adolescence. One of those is a son of mine, the other 11 are former prisoners. :)

I don't know why you don't get the event, though. Maybe it will only pop them for children that are covered by the Conclave Childhood Focus Alerts game rule setting? I dunno, it's weird that you don't get them and I get them for virtually every imprisoned child.

EDIT: Ok, I think I may have located the issue. For the ambitious/rival event (ZE.13615) to fire the children have to be in house arrest, not the dungeon or the oubliette. I usually put children in house arrest as soon as I capture them, so that's probably why I got so many rivals from them. :)

If you wanna verify for yourself it's events\ze_adolescence_events.txt lines 5206-5211 (I have not updated to the latest update, so line numbers may or may not be slightly off).

I have the same issue. It's annoying as heck that there is no notification when the Court Tutor dies. The way I get around it is by starring him as a person of interest and setting the message setting for deaths for POIs to a pause and popup.

The only issue then is remembering that it was the Court Tutor when it pops, heh. But it's not too hard because I almost always use monks for their society boosts, and you can tell by their tonsure. :)

yeah unfortunately there's no notification when the court tutor dies despite this being one of the more important jobs.

My go-to workaround is making my designated regent and court tutor the same person as you get notified if the designated regent job is vacant.

marking people as important didn't solve the issue for me as it just meant that I got spammed whenever some random unimportant person that happens to be within 1000 miles of a marked important person dies. I really hate how bad the notification system in this game is :/

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That's why...
I was wondering how you educated them pagan because I tried that sometimes but nothing ever happend... But I also never put them into house arrest
But I mean, unless you care, just put them into the dungeon then; this would fire the smith event only for the children you care about (I guess)

I checked the smith event and it uses is_inaccessible_or_incapable_trigger as one of the functions to eliminate. is_inaccessible_or_incapable_trigger returns true for prisoners (regardless of form of confinement), so the smith making kids Brawny should never fire for prisoners. Perhaps a fix from previous versions? :)

As for house arrest I always put captured kids there so I can make them rivals and duel them later. :)

I never did that because I didn't like my court to be huge... but now... come to think about it

If they ever touch the court system again I'd like to see some rp elements with it. Sure nicknames are in (although it hasn't fired for me), but it just seems like there's room for more here.

To be honest I don't know much about history. Surely "the court" was more than a bunch of moochers. Didn't they do stuff? I know we have councilors and positions like tutor and physician but maybe there could be more positions and events.

Positions like Groom of the Stool come to mind. Those actually had the duty of handing the Ruler to toilet paper. Or whatever passed for toilet paper at the time...

Positions like Groom of the Stool come to mind. Those actually had the duty of handing the Ruler to toilet paper. Or whatever passed for toilet paper at the time...

rofl I honestly thought you were joking but I googled it.

I'd really like to see ladies in waiting added for noble ladies. You could get an opinion boost from your vassals for making their daughters your wife's ladies, and get different story events pop up from them (like a high intrigue lady being high likely to pick up on that affair going on). I'm sure there are a lot of other positions we could have for courts as well to really make them come alive.

before the patch we had a health malus for characters deemed "unimportant" by paradox (no details given)

It's just a trigger in the code. Pretty sure SnowCrystal even posted it in a dev diary at one point.

Code:
is_unimportant_trigger = {
    NOR = {
        is_married = yes
        is_landed = yes
        has_job_title = yes
        has_minor_title = yes
        AND = {
            NOT = { dynasty = none }
            num_of_dynasty_members = 2
        }
        any_lover = { ai = no }
        any_close_relative = { ai = no }
        any_friend = { ai = no }
        any_rival = { ai = no }
        any_consort = { ai = no }
        num_of_claims = 1
        has_character_flag = eternal_life_mystic
        trait = horse
        trait = vestalis
        trait = retired_vestalis
        has_character_modifier = in_seclusion
        has_character_modifier = elder_long_life_modifier
        immortal = yes
    }
}
