The game's speed had been improved after the culling mechanic was introduced, right? Why did we need this exactly?

After playing with this new feature i have to say i don't like it. It just adds more micro and when you send courtiers away it randomly picks them out. Of course players wiIl want to keep their best characters, so you do this once, just like distributing titles.. If the game would give me options that would make sense then yes.

When you hit the cap you will constantly be reminded that your court size is too big and characters keep coming because that is how the game works. I'd say don't restrict the player but restrict the AI when it comes to court size. It is the bulk of game characters anyway. Or let culling kick into a higher gear when you get to the cap so it becomes hands free again.

This is on the same level as picking an education for kids at 6 and 12. It distracts too much. Just think about know many extra clicks this gives, not to mention it stops the flow of the game. At least we can turn court size mechanics off.

Can I remind everyone that prior to this once your court went over 40 people started dieing and stopped having children?

That's why this was introduced.

What you're seeing now is just the limit exposed - before this patch if you had a court over 40 (including prisoners) you really struggled to have children and you could forget about your relatives having any at all.

You guys know you can set the character finder to keep it within your court and sort from there right? I mean, yeah, it's micro hell but at least the tool to sort people to decide who to kick is already right there to use. The only thing I have an issue with is there should be a prompt on whether to accept random noble refugee into your court.

I said since the beginning that this was a bad idea and I'm unimpressed to be right. The court limit is ridiculously small.

There's a define that changes it. I like the new system, it is another layer of management in the game.

About two thirds of my court limit as a Norse tribal are unkickable children. They join court faster than I can assassinate them, and it devours my treasury. I have to either not have commanders, not have concubines, or not have money. Damn mechanic was clearly only thought out for Christendom.

What do I think about the mechanic? It's a much needed nerf to the ridiculous councillor & commander spam and eugenics program a good player would do prior to 3.1.1. Sadly it's not enough and the decisions where you pay money or piety to invite people are still completely useless more than 99% of the time.

It's silly that some random count can just invite dozens of great commanders, councillors and geniuses and whatnot from halfway across the map for free. Firstly it shouldn't be free, and secondly, one shouldn't have that kind of omnipotence about every single character in the world to begin with. That kind of knowledge should be limited to your immediate surroundings, your realm and well-known characters within a certain range (range that could increase with tech).

Finding people with great stats or genetic traits should be more similar to the "find court physician" decision and assorted events.

So in short, it's a nudge towards the right direction, but it's hardly enough.

Buildings are also bugged and they don't give the expected court size bonuses. But they'll be fixed in the next patch.

Personally I don't really notice or care about the mechanic. It just feels.....pointless.

Obviously bugs need to be addressed... and yes, I believe parents and children should move together and not return. Other than that, I am very happy with the new system.

They still bred, just at a reduced rate. And if I'm not mistaken the penalty was never applied to player characters.

Yes, invite courtiers is totally overpowered and should be nerfed along the suggested lines. Maybe we have a surprise in the next patch... :)

Maybe we should make it a Game Rule and please everyone, instead of making it a global nerf and pleasing one side at the expense of the other...

Ah sure, I am very ok with a game rule. Don't want to impose my view for the game on anyone.
I can only hope Paradox nerf the invite courtiers using factors distance, diplomacy and the present accept invites mechanic that together generated the percentage of actually accepting the invitation. If refused, the same character couldn't be invited for several years.

My opinion.

Prisoners don't
Children do

If you had a court of 200+ before you were simply doing it wrong... I read before that some people have that many courtiers and I am simply wondering why. I always tried to stay below 50 (because I thought that would be the limit for health and fertility).

Especially if you like me want to have your dynasty hold as many titles as possible you need a court that's only filled with your family produce enough offspring to land them all - which is why this update is great - now you may rise (easily actually) your court size limit have them not be affected by the health/fert penalty...

However of course, random people joining your court all the time (sometimes without a notice) is extra-annoying now, but managable. And if you don't like it, turn the rule off

Oh no, my court has 1800+ people and growing rapidly! Seriously I am use modding zoroastrian with a unreasonable spouse/concubine limit to see what it takes to slow the game to a halt.

I personally love role playing and always play with a personal micro mod to which I keep adding new mechanics. One set of mechanics triggers particularly ambitious or aggressive courtiers to ask for ever increasing honors (Honorary title, Council position, landed title), another has them ask for a spouse. Even i started getting annoyed by the spam until I realised that the pop up was a perfect opportunity to get rid of dead wood - simply check the courtiers stats, abuse them then tell them to leave court.

At the very least though the new Ask Courtiers to leave Court Intrigue decision should filter out existing Honorary title holders - I used it just last night and got rid of 7 useless courtiers, plus my 33 Learning Court Physician !

I don't use that button much any more !

I've no problem with the new mechanic, it is true that I just played it as a irish chief - then turned petty king, and maybe with some other ruler would be worse, but at the moment, even if the limit is low, going over it is not a huge problem.
The ask courtier to leave" decision could be improved but it is not too bad, of course when you select it you must be careful to check who is picked up but if you refuse them to leave, as far as I can say, nothing happen. Worst case, you have to pick the decision multiple times until it choose courtiers you don't care to lose.

And in any case it is CK2 you can just not use this rule if you don't like it.

Because they aren't going to change that and they shouldn't. Some of us like to tutor those kids. And for those of you that don't, you can give someone the court tutor title and that person will raise the children. You also have the game rule to limit child notifications.

Just read my post next time, please. My issue is that the COURT TUTOR DOES NOT TUTOR PRISONERS. You are FORCED TO tutor these children or manually set a tutor for them (one by one) - and will have to check if those tutors are still assigned every couple of months because there is no notification if the children revert to your ruler as their tutor. This is so idiotic, as there is no logical reason why a ruler would tutor imprisoned children while there is a court tutor. I think children in the dungeon shouldn't get a tutor and only those in house-arrest should, and that by default should be the court tutor. But either way, my point still stands: The ruler should NOT be the default tutor for prisoners instead of the court tutor.

I am wondering here, because I think I nevered actually tutored imprisoned children. I mean, i am set to be there guardian, but i can not give them ambitious for example (raising an army of rivals to duel)
