For my first game I started with Russia.

I appointed the Reactionary party and instituted State Capitalism (I felt justified as Nicholas I was the biggest reactionary of all the Czars).

And after the first 10 years I became the world's largest industrial power surpassing even the UK.

I've got a budget of over 900 pounds...

...that said...

I'm paying 400 of that for subsidies to keep the factories open.

Also, I noticed some other quirks...

I have to keep the peasants taxes at 100% with 25% tariffs and only about 25% military budget to keep consciousness and mil down.

So basically I have to keep the lower class from having luxury goods to start raising questions about the government, haha.

Also if I keep my military budget at max, the military gets out of hand.

Still feels like I'm overpowered with over 252 in surplus in the budget but I suppose I might be handicapped later in the game when it comes to techs.

I'm going to max out my Cav units and go see about annexing China.

Troubles

God damn it!

I've played for 5-10 times, but 6 months is limit of country budget! I don't know why (i watched tutorial anda played in 1st part of game) but Don't mater how i'll set the taxes (100%- 50% -50% or 45%-30%-30% with 100% on Administration) the Level of taxes gonna fall , for example from 300 to 120 for poor (with 100% of taxes). And finally what i've got ? Many many loans or country without army and education.

I've Just 1 Question - Why it's so?!

I did run a deficient for year til I built my first factory in Moscow.

Oh... My first tech was "freedom of trade".

Oh and I set the national stockpile to 25%.

As long as you don't get into any wars, you should be fine.

[edit]

Oh btw. I was unable to beat China with my current techs. Mostly because it go too tedious for me to move all the troops around Siberia.

:D

And the attrition was too much for me to bring in superstacks.

In my 5 games, the mighty (AI) Russian industrial machine dwarfed the rest of the top 8 all together after as you say 10-20 years. Something is very off there. Perhaps it's as simple as too many regions?

That's funny =) I've got 500K just in ten years, but i don'tt understend "Russian capitalists" ! They think that his country in which the don't have enough goods to build factories very need Fertilizers and Canned food ! It's especially bad because this factories don't give a money =)
___
The main problem on this step is how to Build Government factories and set active political reforms, cuz 20% of socialist in Upperhouse it's bad !

You can have 1 expanded factory giving you a 100$ profit for a grand total of 10 industrial points

You can have 100 factories giving you a combined profit of 0 for a grand total of 1000 industrial points.

See where I'm trying to get?
