I'm about 100 years into my first game (Austria) and I felt like sharing my thoughts on the game so far. Overall, I think it's great, certainly better than EUII, although I think I still prefer Vicky.

I love the little historical sumup when you retire, although I guess it could use some tweaks as it listed a couple of wars I won as losses and sometimes repeats itself in odd ways. Is it moddable? I had a quick look through the folders and savegames, but didn't see anything related it it.

I didn't see any event to unite with Hungry, so I just beat them up and made them my vassal. Seems a shame, since there's not really any way to recreate it without an event.

Not had much in the way of naval warfare so far, when ships fight can you see who they're targetting, like in HoI2? I got the impression from the manual that you could, but I've not noticed it yet.

It seems being the Emperor of the HRE lets you move through the members while you're at war without requiring military access, like in EUII, but I don't see this listed anywhere as an effect. Is it intended?

CoTs are pretty hard to see, even in trade view. Of course, you can click on any province and then hit the button to jump to the CoT, but those are unneccisary clicks. I think the CoT icon should be a lot bigger while in trade view, and the icon should enlarge as you zoom out so it's still clickable.

On a related note, the same should be true for the capital icon in diplo view.

And while I'm suggesting stuff:
When you get a diplo offer from someone you should be able to click on their shield to jump to their country, a lot of the lesser known minors can be hard to find!
Also, when I get an alert saying I have a temp cb it's be nice if it said why I have it and how long it'll last, e.g. "We have a temp cb against Frence since they attacked Baden despite our warning. This will last untill <date>."

Also, why do I have to keep letting garrisons live after sieges? If they aren't surrendering once I breach the walls I should be putting them to the sword, especially if I've had to assault :mad:

It's not that I mind finding unlisted features, it's just that if it's not listed it's hard to know if it's intended or not :confused: :)

Another thought: Events no longer pause the game. This is nice in that you can check you sliders etc. before picking an option that will change them. On the other hand it means if you get an event causing a revolt in province X you can move troops there before accepting the event, or if you get one where you can either choose a bad option or pay a fee to resolve it you can just wait untill you can afford it rather than taking a loan or the bad option.

Indeed, I did say it was nice being able to check stuff. However I don't see any reason why pausing has to be linked to not being able to check stuff, you can stull change screens when paused normally :)

Yup, I noticed that too :) Mil access doesn't quite give you the full supply value though, the province owner gets base suppy * 5 while mil access gives you base * 4.

Oh you can set messages/events to pause, that's true, but what I mean is events don't force pause. In previous games when an event pops up you can't do anything else untill you deal with the event, but in EU3 the game keeps running. Effectivly bad events can never take you by surprise, you can just leave them unresolved untill you can negate the effects, and you can leave good events open untill their most useful.
