its superb.

If Steve Ballmer were to comment on his first impressions of WoN, it would probably be
NATIONALISM NATIONALISM NATIONALISM NATIONALISM NATIONALISM
or
REVOLT RISK REVOLT RISK REVOLT RISK REVOLT RISK REVOLT RISK
or
REBELS REBELS REBELS REBELS REBELS

I don't get home for quite a few hours so I can't play it until then. It's a mixed bag based on the patch notes. A lot of much-needed bug fixes are in there, the QoL changes are greatly appreciated, and some of the ideas towards gameplay alteration are reasonably solid.

I can't for the life of me wrap my head around nerfing non-Europeans further or making the game more RNG-dependent though.

Rebels need to be toned down. I shouldn't be having to fight rebel stacks 1.5x my force limit.

If this is actually happening it's a serious flaw.

Don't forget about them killing off another style of play... Having vassals are now pointless, given the changes in the patch notes.

Suddenly even more controversial than 1.4. I like many changes, fixes and UI improvements, but don't like things such as new diploannexation rules, too strong rebels, nationalism paired with OE, nerfing goods produced everywhere except for Europe, etc.

Plus, I have graphical glitches and screen tearing in Linux with 1.6. I don't care about this though since I play in Windows anyway, and I know that it is hard to test many configurations, but still.

Not pointless....why would they be pointless?

They now have DIP cost so aren't as adept for absurdly rapid expansion, but what else are you going to spend your excess DIP points on, culture convert?

Because of the AE that is now involved with them...

EDIT: I am trying to find the quote that someone here said, but I can't ATM... but anyways, try playing England, win the HYW and then come back and tell us if it worth it...

Answer: No, it is not worth it due to the costs and AE involved.

I'm not sure about that. I've thought about the implications of the changes but it's hard to truly understand them without context of playing. Having small vassals is going to bottleneck a lot less, so for example it'll be much harder to vassal/annex Ming (especially with the AE change to vassal feeding), but taking small vassals in India and then vassaling them @ 1 month/tax means that you won't go over relations horribly and can stagger ADM and DIP costs. Importantly, vassals will annex much sooner which allows earlier access to money for advisors. Coupled with power projection MP spam conquest is likely still doable.

1. The neighbor bonus change was putrid and indefensible. It nerfs ROTW and unlucky players simultaneously.
2. This patch is advertised as a buff to ROTW, but the changes to units per tech group coupled with never getting western units AND the neighbor bonus nerf is a large nerf to ROTW.
3. The change to goods produced depending on BT is also a large ROTW nerf, and also hard to defend from any plausible standpoint.

They really made it nigh impossible to avoid AE...but also said in patch notes that you have less cost in making demands from large coalitions. I need to see how that players out in practice before making judgment on it.

Between the DIP expansion nerf which goes too far (apparently the devs forgot that diplomatic expansion already had a cost and made annexing/integrating almost as expensive as coring unclaimed provinces), production nerf, neighbor bonus nerf, and super rebels...I'll be waiting a couple patches. This patch and expansion brought alot of improvements like unit rebalance and trade improvements, but the bad currently outweighs the good, IMO.

When you dominate the coalition it will be handy... but what about the OE and AE, after such deal against coalition it will get entire world in the coalition and you will have 10 times your army limit in revolts... oh i forgot also you will not be able to get a lot over your limit because of the increased cost of units over the limit.

i just went observing, while waiting for truce to go, and looks like aloooot of nations have big stacks of revoliutionaries spawning
