I am having a great game as UK (very impressed with the AI, especially it's use of air power now). It's June 29 1940 and Vichy has just been created, I'm having a good fight with the Italians (much tougher in DD, thank goodness!) - then out of the blue I get the USSR DoW me! :wacko:

WTF!! Relations aren't great but not exactly catastrophic (-120). This could upset the whole balance of my game. I don't want to start again - can I get rid of the war in my savegame or use the acceptall cheat? How can I ensure they don't do it again (without good reason, I mean)?

Happened in my game too! I was USA and in like March 1940 the SU DOW Hungary! (I played on Normal/Normal and Hungary was not yet in alliance with Germany.)

PS: The soviets had taken almost all europe by summer 1941, because the french was still there.

yeah - USSR dow'd Hungary also in my game - but they were already in Axis -so I was guessing perhaps they had the biggest belligerence in the Axis

It surprises me that you know about the "acceptall" cheat and yet didn't use it.

I always use the cheat in those cases (if I don't plan an ahistorical game).
Cheat, diplomacy, sue for peace and there you go.
The SU won't attack you again for at least 2 years.

Well, I have used it now I have a peace treaty with them until December 1941 so it's ok for now.

Yugoslavia just joined the Axis! :rofl: Hopefully some of the mods will be ready soon so that these crazy occurences are reduced in frequency.


EDIT: Hell, even Portugal's joined the party on the axis side now :wacko: WTF!!!

historically, yugoslavia did join the axis
only, it was couped by the allies a couple days later, an event which, along with italy's disastrous invasion of greece, forced hitler to blitz through the balkans

Uh... In my game too the Yugos and Portugals joined axis! Hopefully it's some strange coinsidence... I don't want every game to be the same extreme ahistorical like my latest now.

As for USSR DOWing you...well, if AI also has sense to DOW Persia and Afghanistan, I'll be VERY impressed with DD...

Yeah, I know I've just never seen it in this game before.

Fortunately now they've broken the pact and left (I'm jumping between the forums and the game).

I'm beginning to worry a little bit that in my UK game (now in early 1938), I may be ticking off the Soviets a little too much with my espionage activities (come on, like you wouldn't do the same thing if MI-5 wasn't killing every GRU agent you send, Stalin....)
