Btw, can you give me a source for that image. I like the cutaways
I took it from here https://www.themodellingnews.com/2020/07/previewtakoms-72nd-scale-battleship.html ,which further links to some blogspot site though.

I do agree with the issue of broken naval mechanics... still not sure when PDX will do anything to fix it (if it is even possible)
I'm testing some changes to defines.lua now. I.e. those:
NDefines.NNavy.COMBAT_BASE_CRITICAL_CHANCE = 0.0
NDefines.NNavy.COMBAT_ARMOR_PIERCING_CRITICAL_BONUS = 2.0

The idea is to make "no penetration = no crit" type of things, and to double the penetration bonus instead. As of yet, I can't comment on how it actually works with these settings, though.

I'm not entirely convinced you can deliver a critical hit to a tank by shooting bullets, and that's what effectively happens with default settings.

1/72 Yamato turret... please give me some time to ponder
1/72 turret.. damn
I want that

As for the rest, not sure if it is so easy to solve this issue. But if you do it, please share with us.

As naval combat, makes me mad...

Why are there complaints about the icon on the basis that an articulated tracked vehicle would be bad in some way? Articluated tracked vehicles are at the top of all terrain capability. I think it's a bit more valid complaint that it's unlikely those countries would manage to make such a good tank.

And if you're playing long enough, modern tanks make superheavies irrelevant.

Not really there is not such a #Rule that i will only use Tank Battalions in Tank Division Templates - they are really good addition to some Infantry Division Templates.

Why are there complaints about the icon on the basis that an articulated tracked vehicle would be bad in some way?

How did you figured out that these are somehow on the basis of an articulated tracked vehicle? atleast they must be on the same Size and not differentiate themselve like on the Icon "Tank+Tankette" <----- thats not how it works.

But applying a bonus to zero still results in zero. I'd guess 0.01 is the smallest value you can practically set COMBAT_BASE_CRITICAL_CHANCE to. This would result in ~0.4% crit chance against an unpierced 60% reliability target.

Are those two multiplicative rather than additive, though?

Because that is what it looks like. Same size is not a requirement for aticulation to improve terrain handling. There are some all terrain tracked vehicles that are not symetrical. It's also common for wheeled articulated vehicles to be assymetrical.

Of course it is not but you are ignoring here some totally physical law which also applies on that design. That Tankette on the front just needs to stuck somewhere and already anything will broke.

It would be like a Train-Car crash.

How exactly is this different from what would happen if a maus got stuck in a ditch somewhere? You're really blowing this perceived problem way out of proportion.

I'm testing some changes to defines.lua now. I.e. those:
NDefines.NNavy.COMBAT_BASE_CRITICAL_CHANCE = 0.0
NDefines.NNavy.COMBAT_ARMOR_PIERCING_CRITICAL_BONUS = 2.0

Of course you can deliver a critical hit to a tank with bullets! Or wooden logs, burning fluid, what have you. Tanks are not invincible - hit the optics, someone peeking out, just forcing it to close the hatches is enough to reduce efficiency.

Honestly the guys designs look pretty neat and while the title is a little hyperbolic I think he did a pretty good job of giving good suggestions and created some on top of that.

I personally like when the icons look different also there really should be more different sprites in this game. The fact I can download a mod that makes each plane type have their own unique sprite for all major countries yet that isn't included in the base game yet is just silly. It also makes it very easy to see what your enemy is producing by being able to see if it's fighter 1,2,3 or Cas 1,2,3.

It is very lazy to simply copy designs for fictional vehicles. Not including historically purchased or locally built models of course. The sky is the limit with fictional designs. why would a super heavy tank built by Bulgaria look like one built in China?

The OPs design is very good.

A much more pressing equipment icon issue however is that majors still have those shadow icons for jets. Even though some have 3d models. It is rather silly that Lamp’s equipment icons is needed to get rid of shadow equipment from major powers this long after release.

I mean, yeah, if the complaint was that the art should be unique for Bulgaria and Turkey, then I don't think anyone would care enough to disagree. But keyframer is specifically saying that the art is a problem because the design "ignores materials science and physical laws" which is an absurd statement with no basis in reality. I mean, it's tech art in a video game, not a design proposal being submitted to a defense contract bid. And the design that they proposed as a replacement is kinda lame.

Of course it has a basis but if you don´t even a have clue about what i´m talking and you obviously lacking for example basics of Material Science&Co. Then this is not my problem.

Bruh, you seem to be taking this super personally, but fine, I'll bite. What is it that you know that I don't about mechanical engineering and material science?

As i said before if you are lacking the basics there is nothing to discuss further with you nor i am responsible for your Education. It´s not mechanical engineering but applied mechanics. You can´t just skip to mechanical engineering without even having a understanding of the basics.
