Hi,
I'm (again) playing this game and wondering what is happening:

why.PNG

I want to make this peace deal.

When I did in a previous save, it ended with that nation taking the "Sao Vicente" province (south-west from where my 21k army stands).

But why? how? what is the mechanism which allow it? where is it explained to me?

Can I prevent it?

Will I have to make hundred of wars to destroy it when they can't finally move to another province?

Thanks for your answer!

I don't fully understand the mechanics yet, but as long as there's an uncolonized province nearby, they seem to always settle there after you take all their land.
Vassalizing and annexing are a workaround, if you're willing to sacrifice a relationship slot fir a decade.
Personally, I just try to keep them week enough to not be able to harm my colonial nations and I just live with the fact that there will always be natives around for as long as there's uncolonized land in the Americas.

OK. If only I had known this ... i wouldn't have done that war: it's useless if the enemy still exist when it ends.

Why don't the game explain such things. I looked everywhere in the native tribe info tooltip about it... nothing, nowhere.
Even on the wiki I didn't find anything related to it.
I guess it's explained somewhere, but... where?

I think it follows the same rules as the result of Forced Migration or Tribal Border Feud CB. I agree that this should be clearly shown in the peace terms GUI. I haven't seen it explained anywhere.

It can actually be beneficial as the tribe is likely to move around and get more tribal land, which will ultimately result in faster colonization when you wage war on them again. But it is confusing as heck.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned with small tribes moving around after you take their land. That's kind of historical anyway. I'm more annoyed by the tribal mega federations which easily take over a quarter of north america and can form federations with other federations and annex their tribal land, even if it's already owned by colonial nations.
Also, I like giving 10-province colonial nations to my vassals so they can form CNs on their own and which I can take over after eating the vassal, because the resulting smaller CNs have less liberty desire and I get additional merchants, but enforcing peace for a subject of a subject when they're at war with a mega federation with 200k troops is more difficult than for direct subjects, and if I succeed, the CN will remain war leader...

My own and only concern is: where is the explanation for this to happen. The fact that it happens is not an issue for me, but knowledge of it would have made my strategy a whole lot different. That's what I'm all about: finding the explanation that this behaviour exist when I end the war with them. And as of this moment, I didn't found any information about it... except this post where I asked.

Having to "ask" on a forum about something in a game is weird. I even went to the wiki (which I often do when I do not understand something about this game) but... didn't find something explaining this behaviour.

I actually like fighting the natives while working on my first colony, as the tribal land makes it easy to grab and core four more provinces to get your colony up and running a lot faster with minimal time with your colonist there.

One of the worst features of the native updates. Countries just ignoring well-established peace deal mechanics.
In this case, if you send a colonist to Sao Vicente before the peace deal, they won't migrate, so you'll full annex them. However, full annexing a tribe seems to prevent getting their tribal land on 1.31.6 at least, so you might only take their capital despite it seeming like you'll take everything... not sure. Maybe that part has been fixed? In either case, natives are still spaghetti after 2 major patches.
