Just remember that it was Saladin who beat up the crusaders and freed Jerusalem. And he wasn't even an arab. IIRC he was kurdish.
Yes he was Kurdish. And after he defeate the Christains at Hattin in 1187 he went on to take Jeruselem causing the 3rd crusade. Phillip II of France and Richard I of England (they were the two most prominent leaders) failed to retake the city but (Richard) negotiated free passage for pilgrims to the holy city.
