Summer 1607, The Ottomans start a war against the weak Mameluks.
They have around 60k troops + 70 manpower(mameluks less than 30k).

Autumn 1607, I (as Italy) started a war against the Ottoman taking advantage of the fact that their troops at this point must be in Egypt.

While a rush through Anatolia I see the Ottomans are recruiting as hell in their regions, at this point their army counts 90k soldiers and 70k manpower.
Again their troops are converging to Egypt so I fight nobody on my path except few newly recruited regiments.

April 1608: Turkish army is halved...this is weird the Mamluks couldn't inflict such a tremendous defeats on the Ottos: they were behind in technology and their+their allies allies was less than half that of the Ottos.
On August 1608, the Ottomans had 0 troops. 0.
Their army vanished. Again neither me or my allies (Burgundy who failed to do anything remotely meaningful during the war) defeated any Otto's army and the mameluks had neither the numbers or the quality to destroy the Otto army.

I thought maybe they borrowed too much and they AI was forced to disband.
But 6 months later when I made peace they could still pay me 1000 ducats as part of the deal.

I had the impression that something similar (armies vanishing ) happened to them 20-30 years ealier but didn't pay enough attention.

Anybody saw anything similar?

Here are the ss in case you're interested in the numbers.

Do the Ottomans have a navy and do the Mamluks have exploration ideas?

Might just be the nasty attrition + AI disregarding it. But I'm wondering if the Ottos tried to ship their troops and got a huge amount sunk.

This happened to me to as Lubeck vs Sweden. Sweden had about 19k troops, I went to war with them, and I watched them disband 12k in front of me. I thought they disappeared into some fog, or somehow slipped away. Looked at the ledger and their army had suddenly dissolved to like 6k. For some reason the AI is just deleting it's army mid war.

Before the war with me started they had 0 ships and they lost the armies 6-9 after this point,so there's no way their troops were sunk.
The fact that they had no ships is also weird as they had 100+ regions naval force limit of 51 ships and 9200 sailors.

This happened to me to as Lubeck vs Sweden. Sweden had about 19k troops, I went to war with them, and I watched them disband 12k in front of me. The weird part is that they were just mass recruiting 3-4 months before this hypothetical disband and 3-4 years earlier they were the first to embrace 'Global Trade' paying about 3k at least considering the number of regions and development they had.

And now despite the fact they have 0 armies and still at war with Mamlluks they're still not recruiting.

I did read it. There's nothing in it that suggests it wasn't simply a case of the Ottomans losing unexpectedly. That's not a bug.
Because the Ottoman army disappearing into thin air is totally not a bug.

This may be tied to the new AI economic logic maybe ?
I had an AI vassal with too many fortress for its size picking loans to build a few regiments then disbanding them instantly right after.
Maybe you should take a look at Ottomans debt.

The mamluks had 20-24k troops during the war.
I don't think there's any chance they could beat the Ottomans who had 90k troops before its army started to disappear. Ottoman also has a nice 3 star general and were ahead in mil technology vs the Egyptians.

They were definitely in debt. My estimate is between 2k -3k. But disbanding its whole army in the middle of the war is pretty stupid.

Did they bankrupt? Check one of their province autonomy modifiers to see if it's the case.
I don't see anything referred to bankruptcy in their province aytonomy modifier.
Also I checked now the wiki and it's stated that when declared bankruptcy all provinces get +10 devastation. Of the provinces either I or the Mamluks didn't invade some had high devastation some had none. So I don't know.

Also Ottomans had a regency during the war (Sultan was only 9) and prestige was -24, I don't know if this might explain something.

I gave them manpower with the console because they were collapsing I think 20 years before that

My best bet would be some kind of integer overflow. The AI might not be able to handle 69 million manpower?
