Summer 1607, The Ottomans start a war against the weak Mameluks.
They have around 60k troops + 70 manpower(mameluks less than 30k).
Autumn 1607, I (as Italy) started a war against the Ottoman taking advantage of the fact that their troops at this point must be in Egypt.
While a rush through Anatolia I see the Ottomans are recruiting as hell in their regions, at this point their army counts 90k soldiers and 70k manpower.
Again their troops are converging to Egypt so I fight nobody on my path except few newly recruited regiments.
April 1608: Turkish army is halved...this is weird the Mamluks couldn't inflict such a tremendous defeats on the Ottos: they were behind in technology and their+their allies allies was less than half that of the Ottos.
On August 1608, the Ottomans had 0 troops. 0.
Their army vanished. Again neither me or my allies (Burgundy who failed to do anything remotely meaningful during the war) defeated any Otto's army and the mameluks had neither the numbers or the quality to destroy the Otto army.
I thought maybe they borrowed too much and they AI was forced to disband.
But 6 months later when I made peace they could still pay me 1000 ducats as part of the deal.
I had the impression that something similar (armies vanishing ) happened to them 20-30 years ealier but didn't pay enough attention.
Anybody saw anything similar?
Here are the ss in case you're interested in the numbers.
