At this point I wouldn't trust them to make a V3 that current V2 fans would enjoy, and I sincerely doubt anyone else would get into it, everything considered.
I have to agree somewhat. I get the feeling a VIC 3 would be dumbed down an awful lot with simpler mechanics so the 'average joe' might like it, which in turn might sell more. We have to take in account now that PDX seem to want to make titles that a 'wider audience' can enjoy and that the grognards tend to dislike.

CK3 was a nice surprise, the new Imperator update has been dope. I'll wait for the dev diaries to make any predictions about V3.
Ive only got 50 hours on CK3. It just doesn't appeal anymore for some reason.

I'd rather say it's inexperience. Remember, that this is the first release of Paradox Tinto in Spain. It's a whole new team built from scratch. Not an excuse to release this though. I was absolutely surprised to see this is actually a full price expansion. Honestly, throughout all of the dev diaries I thought "Huh, this looks like free patch content..." "Okay, maybe a flavour pack" But 20€ for this? I normally don't say this, but this expansion is overpriced. It's just a collection of a hundred random bits mish-mashed together.
I see where you're coming from. but claiming inexperience doesn't work for a company which has been working on the same game for over 7 years and grand strategy as a whole for over 20. If there were problems with inexperience, QA and missing content then they should have either delayed the release of the DLC, created new training intitiatives for newer staff or at least priced the expansion in accordance with its quality and depth (which is definitely not 20 euros)... or preferably all of the above. We're used to PDX using the same deck of excuses but there seems to have been a sharp decline in quality recently for the same price and with worse customer relations. I assume most of the community would have been more understanding if they had delayed the DLC to fix bugs/issues, optimise the game and added better or more in depth content.

I have 70 hours in CK3, as someone with over 800 hours in CK2 I still think htat CK3 is great! But lacking in depth. It's objectively a great game and a great release, but it needs more content for me to enjoy it like CK2. It feels too "same-y" at the moment.

Because compared to CK 2 it utterly and completely sucks and is multiple steps backwards in almost every way?

That's a bit unfair, I've been playing both in the last months and for me, the new one handles RNG and to some extent role-playing so much better than 2. They could've and definitely should've kept more content in. That's what keeps it from becoming a permanent replacement for me currently.

I think what I think about this DLC is best summed up with the words I uttered when I noticed that I suddenly had the "National Ideas" instead of the "Hawai'ian Ideas" after tagswitching to Hawai'i. Unfortunately those words would earn me a forum ban.

Those were design decisions you may or may not have agreed with not ridiculous bugs like UI elements not working.

Design decisions that lacked coherent rationale. Especially the nerf to religious, which was already widely considered the weaker option for most faiths...and according to their own idea group pick rate data they release to us religious was 9th pre-nerf...behind multiple groups they didn't touch. It was bizarre/mildly vindictive and I know two people who stopped playing over the changes in that patch.

This patch actually fixes (allegedly, haven't been able to try yet) several broken UI elements that have been present in the game for > 5 years. By the sound of it, they've introduced more to replace them, but it wouldn't be accurate to represent UI elements not working as a new thing. Not when "attached =/= attached", rebel screen lied about requirements to break country, coring rules were lied about in peace deals, arrival date/combat indicator lied, sometimes pre-war screen would lie etc. This patch actually fixes some of those! It's a shame it was rushed wrt new content.

That is my greatest fear - that all bad design ideas and mechanics from previous franchizes in decline will slither to VicIII. EUIV or Stellaris my be a lost causes but the horror of VICIII suffering fastes like Rome: Imperator or Stellaris is unbearable.

What I just find incredible is that Paradox acknowledged that the release of Emperor had it's issues, to put it mildly, and that they'd learned from it. Most of us accept that the pandemic makes things much harder, but to release Leviathan in it's current state... shocking does not even begin to cover it. There are so many flaws and bugs that should never have seen the light of day in a release to the public.

I mean, how the hell does placeholder art escape through the net?!

Yep, if they announce Vicky 3 in May (probably it will not happen), I would have mixed emotions.

In last few years we got buggy EU IV DLC, shallow CK3 mechanics, and fantasy alt-history HoI4... not promising

There is one bright exception. Imperator morphed from a terrible game into a quite decent one.

To be honest, I just really dislike the new features regarding development. It seems like they tried to shoehorn a new feature in than add a feature the game would actually benefit from.

The favours system is welcome and a nice addition (if they work properly) by contrast. I can see how it would actually improve gameplay and immersion. Whereas the development stuff, it's really just quite unappealing if you ask me.

Monuments could have been nice, but they're quite inconsistent and some of them are too OP.

Overall if I am honest I'd rather this DLC didn't come out. Bug fixes to Emperor would make me happier than what's been added.

Once again, it's down to the community to identify and report bugs on RELEASE to whatever or whoever is remaining in the QA team(?) - another sad joke.
It's actually worse because many of the bugs and broken systems we see today have been found in the showcase streams already. Pointed out by viewers but also YouTubers. Nothing was done about this.

At this point and HoIIV poland NF rework I fully expect ViC3 to have steampunk british mechas and bear cavalry with Magic-using for Imperial China.
Paradox is out of touch with players to this point really.

At this point and HoIIV poland NF rework I fully expect ViC3 to have steampunk british mechas and bear cavalry with Magic-using for Imperial China.
Paradox is out of touch with players to this point really.
POPs are replaced with abstracted numbers, like Rome2 you have to migrate POPs 1 province at a time, 1 click at a time, and Africa can be united and civilised by 1840. I think we're on to something here.
