Okay, so shattered world tribal start. I'm the only Non-tribal in the game at the moment. Within a couple of years of turning feudal, this happens. I think the disease algorithms need looking at.

Being the only non-tribal does skew epidemics your way, since you're the only place with cities and high population densities. Other than that, you're likely unlucky.

The one algorithm-based possibility would be if the decision to start an epidemic is determined before its location is determined. But even then, the fact that you've already got multiple epidemics in the same spot will reduce the chance that you're hit with yet another one.

This is a known issue which they sadly don't consider high priority. Sorry! Best not to play the only feudal realm in a random world, it's totally bugged because ALL diseases will spawn in your realm (and their number doesn't decrease just because you're the only realm they can spawn in).

I played a shattered world realm with one legacy empire and that poor place was wracked with an endless series of diseases, epidemics and disasters. I don't know if it is because diseases simply can't originate in tribal or nomadic areas, or if the higher Prosperity of feudal provinces is to blame but yeah, turn feudal in a tribal world and expect a world of hurt until you grow big enough to dilute the pain or other nations start shouldering their fair share of suffering.

It basically makes a tribal start world all but impossible to play. I would actually class it as game breaking.

I've seen some people call the dev's to a thread before, but I don't know how it is done. Can someone please do that please, because this game is a writeoff in this situation.

This 'minor problem' needs to be re-revaluated, because a 'tribal world' is now part of the official (if ahistorical) game. I'm assuming the whole situation is a case of 'unforeseen side effects'

Yes, if he's playing on ironman then this bug does break this particular playthrough for him (unless he is in a position to be able to quickly conquer a lot and feudalize it all), so it's a bug that can be game-breaking. If you have to restart your playthrough due to something, that's the very definition of game-breaking.

That said, one *could* roleplay this as a super hard challenge and it *could* even be fun - if that kind of extra hard challenge was what you were going for.

So the design logic is that tribes that often got fully wiped by local epidemics without anyone taking notice due to them being wiped out and not having chroniclers, get less or even not at all affected by epidemics and civilized parts of the map do because they historically took note of when a plague or fever hit the town/country....?:confused:

Would be nice to have a game rule that re-weighted prosperity of counties when spawning diseases; normal, half, and unweighted (where disease spawning origin would essentially be completely random)

I prefer to think of it as the “early adopter” penalty. If you were the first feudal realm on the map then you would not know about things like basic sanitation, clean water, moving your tanners and renderers downstream of your cities etc.

I actually had no issue with the endless diseases, it certainly made me think about building more hospitals and focusing on tech than I would have.

In my book it’s definitely WAI - if you can’t handle the plague stay out of the kitchen !
