It's a minor thing but I don't want my doge looking like a king, even in death.

If you survived childhood, it wasn't that difficult to live to be 60 or 70, or even older.I think the common misconception comes from the fact, that the average age in medieval europe is often stated to be in the thirties or low fourthies. Thing is, this is an average of the whole population and includes a high infant- and childhood mortality, that lowers the average considrably. If you reached aduldhood, you had a good chance to reach a reasonably high age. Even if 90+ was not common, it wasn't totaly unheard of.
