I have seen the ERE completely absorbed by muslim powers by 1180 a couple times.
I've had them gone by 1100 - no joke.
Game-start invasion.
That's essentially one crown gone already
Then you have the possibility of:
Sunni Jihad.
Shia Jihad.
Seljuk invasion.
Fatimid invasion.
One thing I don't get is the
almost uniform lack of fight-back from the BYZ. They lose a kingdom, do nothing, lose another, do nothing... I think the issue is that Anatolia never descends into eatable states [autonomous
beys, for example], like it did in real life. The BYZ have to attempt to take on either the whole Seljuk/Fatimid domain if it wants to retake land, and then it's never Anatolia whole - they'll have to fight a half-dozen holy-wars to reclaim it.
I know experiences differ between gamers - but for me, if the BYZ exist after 1200, it's because the Muslims haven't done something, as opposed to the BYZ doing something.
