I preordered Rome, with high hopes. The package actually arrived well packaged, and the ability to dl the game on the release date from Gamer's Gate was a welcome surprise.

I am disapointed with the game though. It simply is not that fun. I feel it could have been improved by the following.

1) This game needed events like in EU2 to flesh out the history. Or else it just feels like a bunch of blobs fighting each other.

2) The family events should have been more interesting. I cared little about the characters because they had no personalities. If you would have made series of events that were related then maybe it would matter.

3) Some of the graphics could have been better. It seems dated.

I know all of these things must have been mentioned before, but I just saw the folder and it made me want to share.

Many of the mods currently in development are adding a huge number of events for countries, provinces and characters, in an effort to "flesh out" the game.
Whether/how Paradox will respond to the outcrying for more events I cannot say, but certainly in the meantime there are options to consider.
Paradox games are, in my view, at their best when paired with a comprehensive mod.
Hopefully one day we can do for Rome what Magna Mundi did for EU3.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I support Paradox, but I just wish they thought a little more about how the game would play before they released it. I think if they had events it would have sold much better and then paradox would be better off too.

The modding is the funnest part of paradox games, I think. My favorate mods were for EU2 and Vicky though and HOI. Those were good games.
