Why am I getting this notification on the game select menu?

- Vanilla install, no mods
- Thinking it may have been because I did not have the appropriate DLCs, I purchased them (I'm an idiot) and still have the same result.

I notice there was a problem similar to this back in 2017 but I can't imagine it being the same.

Help, please.

have you switched ironman on in the galaxy settings screen? it's easy to miss as it's at the bottom of the list

If it's neither mods nor ironman not being activated, it's likely leftover or manually edited files in your Stellaris installation.
To get rid of them, do a clean reinstall: Uninstall, delete the Folder in your Steam Library, then uninstall again.

it could also be the checksum because Paradox stuffed up their sign in system and that is blocking new games

instead of guessing place your mouse over the error message and it will tell you which issue is behind it

then I'm going to assume you have it on Steam.... my point is there are error message popups to help and that saves time with guesses

had the same problem. deleting the content of */documents/paradox interactive/stellaris and allowing reading and writing access to the folder (macos security feature) upon the first start helped
