Greetings, I played most all of Paradox's known games, HoI, EU, Victoria, CK etc. but this game is killing me. It is so stupid that after I start playing and a couple of hours pass all my heirs die suddenly, one after one, only a short time between. After that civil war arises and all my good advisors defect. Can someone edit and make a PROPER mod for this game?

Extremely bad luck I guess? You know that kind of thing just happens, gotta roll with it.

These things happen.

A stable succession with no problems involved should not be expected in a monarchy unless you work for it, and even then, bad things happen sometimes. To play well over multiple generations you need to be able to cope with things not going according to plan. The ancient world was not, in general, known for stability and peaceful transitions of power.

It takes some getting used to when one is used to the stable nation-states of HoI, EU, and Victoria. Even CK is weaker in this regard (due to the more stable form of feudal Europe).

EDIT: I realize this can be read as a "suck it up" answer, but there really is no other good answer. The game takes place in a very different age than the other Paradox strategy games and the way it works is generally appropriate to the age (within the limitations of the game engine).

I completely agree with Peter, the amount of micromanagement on those traitorious monkeys (characters) is huge (especially with Rome). You have to keep the circus with the firm hands otherwise everything will spin out of control within the seconds. You need to take time, play it slowly...don't fast forward because that surely leads to autodestruction.

As said - get the hotfix from the mod forum. There is a massive problem with heirs dying related to the "become monarch [etc.] ambition" which results in just about every noble in your country becoming a wannabe usurper and prolific assassin. The hotfix mod fixes this and your heirs tend to actually live long enough to, uh, inherit.
